After months of beta testing and internal builds, Xiaomi is finally shipping the stable HyperOS 3.1 update to select Xiaomi and Redmi phones in China. This is the first official stable release and it brings several under-the-hood improvements with overall system and UI optimisation.
HyperOS 3.1 Stable Update Rolling Out in China
Spotted first by Xiaomi Time, the HyperOS 3.1 stable update has been released for Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and Redmi K90 Pro Max. It is based on Android 16 and has been shipped as a quality of life improvement update, which resolves several background issues, enhances system visual effects and optimises the UI fluidity for smoother animations and transitions.

The official changelog for the update contains the following fixes and improvements:
- Optimize the display effect of the gesture prompt line in some scenarios
- Fix the problem of system sharing crashing in some scenarios
- Fix the problem of abnormal sharing of handwritten notes in some scenarios
- Fix the problem of abnormal location display in some scenarios
- Fix the occasional black screen problem after restoring factory settings
- Fix the problem of abnormal file uploading in some third-party applications
- Fix the problem of unencryptable private files in app clones in some scenarios
- Fix the problem of unrecognizable SIM cards in some special scenarios
- Fix the occasional connection problem with AirPods in some scenarios
- Fix the abnormal opening of some files in dual-app scenarios
- Fix the occasional lag problem in the Negative Screen in some scenarios
Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1 Features (Expected)
While the stable HyperOS 3.1 release has not introduced any new features to Xiaomi phones and Redmi phones, a recent HyperOS 3.1 features leak revealed several of the details. For starters, HyperOS 3.1 is finally set to gain Google's Material 3 Expressive design language. For starters, there will be a new Stacked Layout Style design in recent apps.

Xiaomi's Dynamic Island clone, Xiaomi Super Island, will reportedly let users decide and choose the animation effect for supported apps. There will also be a new flexible drag-and-drop folder size changing setting with 2x1 and 1x2 folder size grids.
Aside from that, Xiaomi is also said to debut a new iOS Bridge feature with HyperOS 3.1, which is said to include new interconnectivity features like iPhone call alerts, enhanced AirPods integration and direct file sharing.
