The OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite is a good phone that got dealt a bad hand. It covers the basics well, with a smooth display, long battery life, and software that only OnePlus could deliver. The Nord CE 6 Lite could have been fair value for most if not for the recent price hike due to the ongoing hardware crisis. Currently, despite being a decent phone, it is a tough sell that even the most hardcore OnePlus fans would have to think twice about.
Pros
- Minimal and clean design
- Reliable everyday performance
- Long battery life and fast charging
- Clean and fast OS experience
Cons
- Subpar LCD screen
- Medicre cameras for the price
- Only comes with IP64 rating
The OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite has been on my radar since launch; a Rs 20,000 OnePlus phone with the brand's reputation of delivering good specs and clean software. I thought this would be the phone I can easily recommend to anyone on a budget. But after a week of use and one price hike later, the picture is looking more complicated than I expected. There are things I like about this phone and some that are hard to look past at this price point. Let me tell you all of it in this OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite review.

The design of the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite is a pretty standard affair. It is clean, unfussy, and does not try too hard, which I appreciate at this price point. It sports a clean plastic back with chunky, flat sides. The camera bump is slightly raised and arranged vertically, mimicking the look of the Samsung Galaxy S26 if you look from far away.

While I do like the minimal design, I am split on the in-hand feel. On one side, the soft matte texture on the rear panel provides a nice grip while repelling fingerprints and smudges. However, as I noted in my Redmi Note 15 Pro review, a large phone with thick flat sides is not a comfortable thing to hold for extended periods, and the Nord CE 6 Lite runs into the same problem.

I would pick up the phone for a quick reply, and everything feels fine. But after a long call, the flat sides make their presence felt. It started pressing into my palm, making it difficult to clutch it for long. A slight chamfer or thinner sides would have solved this entirely. On the bright side, the build quality is impressive. The plastic frame feels solid and well put together compared to the older Nord CE 4 Lite.

I should also mention that the Nord CE 6 Lite is identical to the Realme P4X that came out last year. And like that phone, it comes with an IP64 rating, which can only take a few splashes of water. While I wasn't planning to take the phone for a dive, the added IP 68/69 protection could have provided some additional peace of mind in case of accidental spillage.
That is not an unreasonable ask, either, considering the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion and the iQOO Z10R both offer better ratings at a similar price. The overall design is decent, but these are gaps that are hard to ignore when the competition has already closed them.
Display and Audio Quality
- 6.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) LCD display
- 144Hz refresh rate, no display glass protection
- 1,000 nits high brightness, 800 nits standard brightness
The streak of hits and misses continues with the display. On the front, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite sports a big 6.72-inch screen with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the high refresh rate, the phone feels very fast while scrolling, swiping, or browsing through menus. The large screen also sets the mood for a comfortable viewing experience.

During my OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite review period, I enjoyed several shows and YouTube videos while commuting to and back from work. It's also big enough for a cosy typing experience, and the haptics are decent too.

But an LCD screen at this price is difficult to defend. The colours appear washed out, the viewing angles aren't the best, and the brightness maxes out at just 1,000 nits. The screen looks fine when I am chilling at home or the office, but take it outside in the sun, and the screen is barely visible. All these issues could be easily avoided by opting for an AMOLED panel like the Realme P4 or the Galaxy M56.
There's also a stereo speaker setup, which gets very loud, but the output is distorted. So, the Nord CE 6 Lite won't be getting featured as the best display phone under Rs 25,000 anytime soon.
Performance Tested
- MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex
- Up to 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage
Performance is where things pick up again, as the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex chipset. This is a very popular processor in this segment. I have previously tested it on the Vivo T4R and Redmi Note 15 Pro, and the benchmark results are nearly the same as those devices.

I must say that the performance was the least of my worries, as the phone smoothly handled daily usage. Apps opened up fast, animations held up pretty well, and multitasking was snappy. I was going in expecting some performance hiccups, but the overall experience remained consistently smooth throughout my OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite review period.

But gaming is a different chapter. The Dimensity 7400 can handle some titles like Call of Duty: Mobile, which runs at 90 FPS on low graphics, and BGMI can be played at 60 FPS at smooth settings. However, I wouldn't advise jumping to heavier titles like Genshin Impact, as they struggle at even 30 FPS.
There are rumours that 90 FPS support is coming for BGMI, but I couldn't confirm or test it out during my week of use. As for temperatures, the device didn't heat up while playing a Battle Royale match for an hour. It just gets slightly toasty. It's not the best gaming phone under Rs 25,000, like the OnePlus Nord CE 5 or the Poco X7 Pro, but it can keep up if you really like your Call of Duty or BGMI.
Software and Updates
- OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16
- 3 years of Android updates and 5 years of security patches
The software is the real highlight of the Nord CE 6 Lite. OxygenOS 16 takes the smoothness to the next level, making the phone feel that much more premium than it appears to be. Even though it is the same phone on paper as the Realme P4X, the software difference between the two couldn't be further.

While I would typically notice some hiccups and stutters in the P4X, I didn't find anything of such a sort during my OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite review period. It flows smoothly with fluid animations and a bunch of mesmerising customisations, paired with a completely clean experience.

There are no unwanted apps or notifications from the marketplace, which is something that ultra-premium devices like the Oppo Find X9 Pro also suffer from. So, I would totally understand if someone decides to ignore all the red flags I have listed above and wants to buy this phone just for the sake of good, reliable software. IT IS THAT GOOD!
Cameras Reviewed
- 50 MP main camera with Samsung Omnivision OV50D40 sensor
- 2MP depth sensor
- 8 MP selfie camera
The Nord CE 6 Lite runs a 50MP OmniVision OV50D40 main sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP front camera. That is a step down from the Nord CE 4 Lite, which used a Sony LYT-600 sensor, and there is no OIS on the primary camera either.
Main Camera
In good daylight, the camera holds its own. Colours have a natural, scenic look instead of appearing oversaturated or punchy. The dynamic range is also handled reasonably well, and the results come off appearing quite clean. I like the shot of the swing, as all the colours stick close to the actual subject, and the post-processing doesn't over-sharpen to compensate for the lack of details either.

The problems start when there's little-to-no light. The images turn out hazy and soft with ample noise. And since there is no OIS, you need to have very steady hands to get even a decent shot at night. Just check out the samples I clicked for the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion review, and the difference between the two will be evident.
The Zoom performance quickly drops off after 2x. As you can see in the image of the water tank, the details become blurrier as I keep zooming in closer. Portrait shots are decent. However, during my OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite review period, I felt that the background blur wasn't as strong enough, and the 2MP depth camera didn't make any significant difference.
Selfie Camera
On the front, the 8MP selfie camera produces clean results in good lighting without overly smoothing skin tones, which I appreciate. It struggles a bit once the light dips, though, and anything close to indoor or evening shots starts to lose detail.

Video Recording
Coming to video quality, the Nord CE 6 Lite can record in 4K @ 30fps from the rear camera. It uses dual-axis EIS stabilisation, which makes the video look acceptably smooth in daylight, but the quality drops again at night. From the front, it can only record in 1080p resolution.
Battery Life and Charging
- 7,000mAh battery capacity
- 45W SuperVOOC charging
- 10W reverse-wired charging support
Battery life is the one area where the Nord CE 6 Lite has no asterisks. It is simply very good. The 7,000mAh capacity isn't the highest in the segment, but it lasts plenty long. During my OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite review period, I got an average of about 9 hours of screen time. Getting through a full day of heavy use, including streaming, social media, calls, and some gaming, never felt like a stretch.

On light usage, I could continue using the phone well into the evening of the next day. But when I had to plug in, it quickly topped up to 50% in a little over 30 minutes. It supports 45W wired charging, which is certainly not the fastest, but it can offer a quick refill if you are in a rush. Overall, the battery department is where I am satisfied with the device, and I can easily suggest it as the best battery phone under Rs 25,000.
OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite Review Verdict: Should You Buy It?
The OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite checks a lot of boxes for a phone under Rs 25,000. It brings in a minimal design with a high refresh rate display, loud stereo speakers, reliable everyday performance, an excellent software experience, and a battery life that could go on for days. It would honestly be a decent phone had it been under Rs 20,000.

But the phone starts at Rs 22,999, and at the price, it is hard to ignore its compromises. Like the lack of an AMOLED screen, which is the norm in 2026. Even the Ai+ Nova 2 Ultra offers a 1.5K AMOLED display under 20,000. There's only a single camera, and no OIS. The image quality is serviceable, and the battery life and charging speed won't beat some other phones in the segment either.
I understand the ongoing RAM crisis and other geopolitical issues affecting smartphone prices. Even the aforementioned Realme P4X and P4 have received a price hike.
But in a price-sensitive market, it is hard to justify this phone. Still, since I have a major soft spot for OnePlus, I would recommend the Nord CE 6 Lite if you can get it for under Rs 20,000 in a sale or bank offer. Otherwise, there are many better deals to explore out there.
