The Oppo Find X9 Pro is almost the best flagship experience you could ask for. It has a stunning design, a fancy but robust build quality, an array of excellent cameras, strong performance and long-lasting battery life that blows the competition out of the park. The software experience is also very strong, and so are the baked in AI features. Besides some minor issues, it is an excellent device that is well worth the purchase.

Pros

Attractive and premium design

Best in class performance

Smooth and well-rounded software

Excellent camera system

Massive battery

Cons

Hefty in-hand feel

Camera processing uses AI

Some UI bloatware present

Whenever you think about the best flagship phones, names like Samsung and Apple may come to your mind. But Chinese brands like Oppo have been silently outclassing them in almost every area possible. This was the case with last year's Oppo Find X8 Pro, and the same goes for its successor, the Oppo Find X9 Pro, which I have been using for two weeks now. So let me tell you how this phone offers the most complete flagship experience out there in this review of the Oppo Find X9 Pro.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Unboxing

While the rest of the brands barely include anything in the box, the chivalry hasn't died with Oppo yet, which bundles everything you need along with the phone. Here's what you get inside the Oppo Find X9 Pro box:

Those who are familiar with Oppo's flagship phones will find the design and look of the Find X9 Pro similar to the older Oppo Find X5, just with a modern aesthetic. The sides are curvier, the cameras have again resorted to the top left, and the bump gently melts into the back of the phone. That said, I can't help but ignore that Oppo's new design is charting very close to the iPhone 16 Pro Max

This similarity also extends to the new OnePlus 15. But Oppo, has infused the Find X9 Pro with personality. From the brushed aluminium sides to the matte glass and the beautiful metallic ring that surrounds the camera bump. Even the Hasselbrad branding is subtly placed. These give the Find X9 Pro a suave appearance that I could easily imagine being used by a femme fatale in a James Bond movie.

While the design is attractive, the in-hand feel could be a bit much to handle. The Find X9 Pro is a heavy phone, and while it may not appear to be thick on paper, the flat sides make it difficult to use with one hand. It also made the phone feel a tad unwieldy. I accidentally dropped it just 2 days into the review period. Thankfully, it came out scratch-free. but since then, I've only used it with a case. This was not the issue with the OnePlus 15 since that's slimmer and weighs less, too.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Display Quality

        • 6.78-inch (1272 x 2772) 1.5k AMOLED Display
        • 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and Ultra HDR supported, 10-bit panel
        • Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, 3600 nits peak brightness

As for the display, the Oppo Find X9 Pro has a beautiful, bright, and almost bezelless panel. Seriously, the bezels are so thin from all sides that it feels they aren't even there at times. And the content-watching experience is next level: I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos and a few shows on OTT apps, and the colour output is crisp and vibrant, just the way I like it.

I was watching the new How to Train Your Dragon movie, and it looked fantastic on Oppo Find X9 Pro's screen. It's easily the best display phone in my books. As far as the brightness goes, it is also next level, keeping the content visible during the sunny Saturday afternoon when I took the phone out for camera samples. It is, in fact, a shy brighter than the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max

Oppo also didn't skimp out on sound, as the stereo speakers on the Find X9 Pro can get quite loud. This further elevates the entertainment experience, as I didn't need to resort to a separate Bluetooth speaker to enjoy my content on this phone.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Performance Tested

        • MediaTek Dimensity 9500 (3nm), Arm G1-Ultra GPU
        • 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM + 512 GB UFS 4.1 storage

The Oppo Find X9 Pro comes with the Dimensity 9500, which is MediaTek's latest flagship chipset. While it is a step behind the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in terms of benchmark numbers, it still outputs incredible performance as you can see in the results here. If you want to see how these two flagship processors fare against each other, you can check out our comprehensive Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 vs Dimensity 9500 comparison.

So with such a powerful chipset, the Oppo Find X9 Pro offers excellent performance. It smoothly treads through the new animations that come alongside the new ColorOS 16 features, never stuttering once during my review period. I have opened multiple apps, taken long-duration videos, but the phone never felt like it needed a break.

Gaming on the Oppo Find X9 Pro
Gaming on the Oppo Find X9 Pro

In gaming, I could play graphics-heavy games like Genshin Impact and Hokai Star Rail on max settings at 60 FPS. However, they do make the phone warm after 20 minutes of gameplay. Other games like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile run at a solid 120 FPS on the lowest settings in both multiplayer and battle royale. So if gaming is what you are worried about, the Find X9 Pro has you covered.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Software and Updates

        • Color OS 16 based on Android 16
        • Up to 5 major Android updates, 6 years of security patches

The software experience was the real highlight for me, because the new ColorOS 16 is just so good. It has drawn heavily on iOS 26, but it is quite well implemented here. The new animations are snappy as ever, the dynamic island now supports more apps, and there's a whole variety of new Flux 2.0 themes that kept me busy customising my lockscreen and homescreen to just the way I like it.

There's one neat feature that shows notifications like a news ticker while gaming. This is such a cool and unobtrusive implementation that I want it on all phones now. The Mind Space feature has also been improved since I used it on the OnePlus 13s. I liked how easily I could access it with the Plus key and start recording my thoughts, which I did a lot while taking the camera samples.

It also adds tags, making it easier to find the things you have saved here, and syncs with Google Gemini. So I could directly ask Gemini about the screenshots and voice notes I have added to the Mind Space.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Cameras Tested

        • 50 MP (main), f/1.5, 23mm, 1/1.28", OIS, video recording up to 4K at 120 FPS
        • 200 MP (periscope), f/2.1, 70mm, 3x optical zoom, OIS + 50 MP (ultraiwde), f/2.0, 15mm, 120˚
        • 50 MP (selfie), f/2.0, 21mm, 1/2.76", video recording up to 4K at 60 FPS

Oppo has made a brave move this time, ditching the 4th periscope for a 200MP 3x periscope instead. The main sensor is also bigger this year. They are also using a new LUMO engine alongside Hasselblad to deliver the perfect camera experience. But that's on paper; here's how the Find X9 Pro's cameras actually perform.

The 50MP main lens takes well-toned photos that look stunning. The details, contrast and the dynamic range are on point. I took shosts of the scenic landmark of Humayun's Tomb, and the results look poster worthy. However, nighttime photos are also very detailed, but the colours come off boosted sometimes, and the shadows disappear entirely.

The 3x periscope camera lets you take crisp close-up shots. You can see how well it has captured the carvings on the tomb, and the macro shots look fitting for a nature documentary. But that's until you don't go over 30x. After that point, AI takes charge to fill in details on its own. This can make some very blurry photos look sharp and stunning, or make the subject look like a watercolour painting.

You can see how AI has completely botched cameras under the street light and the window of the tomb. This AI processing happens in real time, which makes it seem like I am using an AI app to take photos. It is very aggressive and I hope Oppo adds an option to completely turn it off.

The ultrawide lens can capture neat wide angle photos. There is consistent colour parity between all 3 lenses. Oppo also offers a HasselBlad Hi-Res mode which lets you take highly detailed images from all three lenses with the iconic HasselBlad colour tuning.

The selfie camera is able to take some nice and natural photos with accurate skin tones. Even at night, the images turn out well lit around the subject, and the portrait bokeh effect is also pretty decent. In terms of video, you can capture 4K videos at 60 FPS from all four cameras and 120 FPS from main lens.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Battery Life and Charging

        • 7500 mAh silicon carbon battery
        • 80W SuperVOOC wired charging, 50% charge in 25 minutes
        • 50W wireless charging, 10W reversed wireless charging

The Oppo Find X9 Pro competes against literal power banks with its battery capacity. This massive 7,500 mAh cell is the reason behind its hefty weight, but in everyday use, it makes a lot of sense. Even after using the phone for the whole day to take photos and I still had over 40% left in the tank.

        Oppo Find X9 Pro charging
        Oppo Find X9 Pro charging

Flagships like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, or even midrange phones like the Vivo T4, will struggle to offer this kind of endurance. I got about 8 hours and 30 minutes of screen time while using the phone as a hotspot. And the supplied 80W charger wastes no time in refilling the phone from 0-100% in just 1 hour and 10 minutes. If it were up to me, I would award the Oppo Find X9 Pro as the best battery mobile phone of 2025.

Bottom Line: Should You Buy the Oppo Find X9 Pro?

It is hard to convince a normal consumer to pay a premium price for a brand like Oppo. It always begs the question, why not get the iPhone 17 Pro at that price, or the Galaxy S25? But the Oppo Find X9 Pro offers a much better value, whether it is in build, performance, battery life or cameras. It's almost the master of all trades and barely has any major trade-offs compared to its other premium siblings.

Oppo Find X9 Pro in hands
Oppo Find X9 Pro in hands

It is not as perfect as the last year's Oppo Find X8 Pro, but still checks all the boxes for a perfect flagship phone. So if you are open to the idea of getting a flagship Oppo phone, this is an easy recommendation.
