Oppo's ColorOS 15 was well received among fans thanks to a myriad of improvements in animations and user experience, alongside new features. Well, Oppo would be hoping to keep the momentum going with the ColorOS 16 update, which is expected to roll out later in 2025. The firm has teased some of its key features, and here's everything you need to know about them.
1
Smoother Animations
1
As with any other third-party Android 16-based UI releases in 2025, ColorOS 16 will bring enhanced animations. In fact, Oppo has been teasing the improved, smoother animations so much that they seem like the entire premise of the upcoming release.

From app opening animations to interacting with different elements on the home screen and quick settings, Oppo is putting in extra effort again. The brand has posted countless videos on the improved animations, and they seem pretty seamless.

Live Photo Collage Album and AI Light
2
One of the other features that ColorOS 16 promises is Live Photo Collage. It necessarily combines three or more live photos to make a beautiful live collage that users can view and share.

Besides, the firm is also bringing AI light, which uses artificial intelligence to detect and add light to subjects' faces. This could work especially well in harsh lighting conditions where the light source in the background may lead to underexposed skin tones and a darker overall image.
3
ColorOS Star Compiler for performance gains
3
ColorOS 16 is confirmed to introduce Star Compiler, a new engine which Oppo claims can boost the core performance of the operating system by 26%. It also promises to reduce the CPU load by 14%.

Besides, app startups could be 28% faster with 21% faster app loading speeds. Similarly, like ColorOS 15, which delivered smooth parallel animations, ColorOS 16 promises to improve on the same.

ColorOS's system apps, such as Notes, Recorder and Calendar, will be getting deeper AI integration. While Oppo hasn't shared much information around the improvements to these apps, their Weibo post states that they will make note-taking, recording and setting up events in the calendar much less cumbersome.
5
Fluid Cloud Improvements
5
Last but not least, Fluid Cloud has been a part of ColorOS for almost two years, but it has been limited due to a lack of app support. One of the Android 16 features was Live updates, and since ColorOS 16 is based on Android 16, it could help add wider app support for Fluid Cloud in the OS.

This could include support for more Oppo apps as well as third-party apps like Google Maps, food delivery apps and more. The same is also expected to make its way as one of the OxygenOS 16 features.
And those were all the features that could be arriving in ColorOS 16 soon. We're sure there's still much that Oppo hasn't revealed yet. Besides the above features, a handful of Android 16 features, such as the Search bar in Photo Picker and Advanced Protection Mode, may also roll out in the stable release.
Speaking of which, while ColorOS 16 is set to be unveiled on October 15, 2025, the stable update may roll out by the end of 2025. Among other ColorOS 16-supported devices, the Oppo Find X9 and the Reno 14 are expected to be the first to get the update later this year.
