Oppo's ColorOS 15 was well received among fans thanks to a myriad of improvements in animations and user experience, alongside new features. Well, Oppo just launched ColorOS 16, and with the stable update expected to roll out to supported devices starting from October 2025, here are all the new features ColorOS 16 brings to the table.
1
Smoother animations and new customisation options
1
As with any other third-party Android 16-based UI releases in 2025, Oppo has added enhanced animations and more customisation options in ColorOS 16. The user interface has new aesthetics, which extend to both the home screen and lockscreen.

The release brings the Flux Home Screen, where users can long-press on any app icon or folder to resize it. Besides, ColorOS 16 also adds a lot of lockscreen customisation options, including new themes, clock styles, widgets and more.

Speaking of lock screen, ColorOS 16 now lets users set Motion Photos or videos as wallpapers, alongside a wide range of fonts and AI text style suggestions to match the wallpaper. Besides, the release also brings full-screen AOD like OxygenOS 16. It lets users view their lock screen wallpaper alongside notifications, with a smooth transition when users tap on the screen.
2
Live Photo Collage Album and AI Portrait Glow
2
One of the other features that ColorOS 16 promises is Live Photo Collage. It necessarily combines three or more live photos to make a beautiful live collage that users can view and share.

Besides, the brand has added a new feature called AI Portrait Glow, alongside the existing suite of AI features like AI Eraser, Unblur and Reflection remover. The feature detects and adds light to subjects' faces. This could work especially well in harsh lighting conditions, where the light source in the background may lead to underexposed skin tones and a darker overall image.
Similarly, Oppo has also updated the built-in video editor with features like Master Cut. It offers things like trimming, speed controls, the ability to add music and a lot more, which could finally help you ditch third-party Android video editors.
3
ColorOS Luminous Rendering Engine
3
From app opening animations to interacting with different elements on the home screen and quick settings, Oppo's Luminous Rendering Engine and Trinity core bump up the performance by a good margin. The latter also improves performance when gaming. The brand also says ColorOS 16 brings Project Breeze, which ensures a consistent and responsive experience on budget devices.

Oppo claims it can boost the core performance of the operating system by 26%. It also promises to reduce the CPU load by 14%. Besides, app startups are claimed to be 28% faster with 21% faster app loading speeds. This is topped by up to a 40% increase in app responsiveness and up to 52% improved frame rate stability.
4
New AI features
4
Starting with improvements to Mind Space, it can now store notes, your food order numbers, record videos and highlight key segments of it. For starters, it can keep track of your spending by tracking your receipts with monthly expenses and consumption trends.

ColorOS's system apps, such as Notes, Recorder and Calendar, will be getting deeper AI integration. The voice recorder gets AI voice enhancement, and the Notes app lets you write using AI, alongside block editing. These features should make it much easier to focus on productivity, while users leave the quality enhancements for AI to handle.
5
Cross-device ecosystem features
5
Oppo introduced support for Apple's AirDrop feature in ColorOS 15, and is extending it from sharing just images to now albums, documents, notes, contacts and content from third-party applications. It's worth noting that iOS users will need to download the O+ Connect app for all this to be seamless.

Besides, ColorOS 16 plays well with Apple Watch with the ability to answer phone calls, reply to text messages and manage exercises on the watch. The phone's screen can be mirrored easily on Mac and Windows, and it supports opening up to five applications at once.
6
Fluid Cloud improvements
6
Last but not least, Fluid Cloud has been a part of ColorOS for almost two years, but it has been limited due to a lack of app support. One of the Android 16 features was Live updates, and since ColorOS 16 is based on Android 16, it could help add wider app support for Fluid Cloud in the OS.

This includes support for more Oppo apps as well as third-party apps like Google Maps, food delivery apps and more. The same is also expected to make its way as one of the OxygenOS 16 features.
And those are all the new features in ColorOS 16. Besides the above features, a handful of Android 16 features, such as the Search bar in Photo Picker and Advanced Protection Mode, may also roll out in the stable release. Speaking of which, the stable update will roll out from October 2025 to all the ColorOS 16-supported devices, including the Oppo Find X8, Find N5 and Reno 14.
