Knowing which version of Android your phone is running is useful for several reasons. It helps you check feature availability and check if your device is up-to-date with the latest security patches. Luckily, finding out your Android version only takes a few steps on most Android devices. Here's how to check what Android version is on your phone.
With the release of Android 16, there have been over 20 Android version releases in the operating system's history. The version of Android running on a phone is displayed inside the "About phone" section of your device's Settings app. The steps to find a phone's Android version may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Just so you don't get confused, we've mentioned the process for all manufacturers.
How to check Android version on Pixel phones
Checking the Android version on Google Pixel smartphones is easy and requires only a few steps. All you need to do is:
- Head over to the Settings app and go to About phone.
- Swipe down and tap on Android version.

The number displayed under the "Android version" section should be your current Android version.
How to check Android version on Samsung phones
Samsung phones run One UI, which has its own version number alongside its underlying Android version. Here's how to check both the Android and One UI version on Samsung phones:
- Head over to Settings and tap on About phone.
- Then tap on Software information and check the number below the Android Version section. That's your current Android version.

Since One UI 8 is an Android skin, it has its own version number, which can be found below the "One UI version" section.
How to check Android version on OnePlus, Oppo and Realme phones
Finding the Android version on OnePlus, Oppo and Realme devices takes an extra step, but the process is still quite similar. Both OxygenOS and Realme UI are based on ColorOS, and their version numbers align directly with the underlying Android version.
- On your OnePlus, Oppo or Realme phone, go to Settings and tap on About device.
- Scroll down on this screen and select Version.

- You can now check the latest version of Android that's running on your phone inside the Android version section.

Since these devices run OxygenOS, Realme UI and ColorOS, the skins have their own versions that you can check in the "About device" section.
How to check Android version on Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi phones
Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi smartphones run HyperOS, which follows its own version number. It's easy to find the underlying Android version, and here's how to do it:
- Head over to the Settings app on your Xiaomi, Poco, or Redmi phone and tap on About phone.
- Your phone's current Android version should be visible beside the Android version section alongside the build number.

- The HyperOS version will also be visible on the top, just below the "Xiaomi HyperOS" banner.

How to check Android version on Vivo and iQOO phones
Vivo and iQOO smartphones use Funtouch OS, and like OxygenOS, the version number is aligned with the Android version it's based on. Here's how to check the Android version on a Vivo or an iQOO device:
- If you're on Vivo or iQOO, head over to the Settings and About phone.
- Here you should see the current Android version below the Android version section.

- Funtouch OS is, again, a third-party skin, so it has its own version number, which is visible at the top of the same page.
How to check Android version on Nothing and CMF phones
The process of checking Android version on a Nothing or a CMF phone is quite similar to Pixel UI. Nothing and CMF phones run Nothing OS, which follows its own version number. Here's how to check both:
- On your Nothing or CMF device, open Settings and head over to About phone.
- Swipe down till you see Android version, and you should find the current Android version number below.

- Nothing OS, like other skins, follows its own version, which will be visible at the top just below the About phone section.

How to check Android version on Infinix and Tecno phones
Both XOS and HiOS release versions align with the Android version they're based on. The process of checking the Android version on Infinix and Tecno is similar. Here's how to do it:
- On an Infinix or Tecno device, head over to Settings > My phone.
- The current Android version of the device should be visible beside the Android version section.

- Similarly, since Infinix phones run XOS and Tecno devices run HiOS, they have their own versions. These skin versions are generally in sync with the Android versions.

And that's how you can check your phone's Android version with ease. No matter which phone you’re using, checking the Android version is straightforward once you know where to look.
Just remember that while Pixels only show the standard Android version, most other brands include their own custom skin version alongside it. This helps you understand both the core Android build that's running on your phone and the extra features added by the device's manufacturer.
