2026 has brought two of the most highly anticipated mid-range smartphone contenders, the Nothing Phone (4a) and the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion. On one side, Nothing continues its pursuit of being the most unique among the bunch with its Glyph bar and on the other, the Edge 70 Fusion sticks to Moto's signature Pantone design. If you're torn between these two heavy-hitters, here's a comprehensive Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion Comparison to help you make the right choice.
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Design
- Nothing features a transparent back with a redesigned Glyph Bar
- Motorola utilizes a fabric-inspired, Pantone-colored rear panel
- The Edge 70 Fusion offers superior IP69 and military-grade durability
-design-showcase-from-the-back-_jpg.jpg)
Aesthetics will likely be a big deciding factor for buyers. Although the Phone (4a) Pro ditches the transparent aesthetic, the Phone (4a) retains it by ditching the Glyph lights for Glyph Bar. Motorola, on the other hand, boasts its signature back design, which is fabric-inspired and uses Pantone colours.
While the Phone (4a) sticks to IP64, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion gets both IP68 and IP69 ratings for extreme dust and water resistance alongside military-grade durability with MIL-STD-810H certification.
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Display
- Motorola offers a faster 144Hz quad-curved screen with slimmer bezels
- The Edge 70 Fusion reaches a notably brighter 5,200 nits
- Nothing provides a high-quality, flat 120Hz AMOLED panel

Both the Nothing Phone (4a) and Motorola Edge 70 Fusion bring 1.5K AMOLED panels to the table, but the Edge 70 Fusion pulls ahead slightly for those who chase specifications. While the Nothing Phone (4a) features a flat display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the Edge 70 Fusion gets a quad-curved display with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate. The bezels are also much slimmer on the Motorola.
The Edge 70 Fusion's panel is also slightly brighter at 5,200 nits peak brightness compared to Phone (4a)'s still impressive 4,500 nits. Therefore, while the Phone (4a)'s display is sharp and vibrant, gamers and content consumers will better appreciate Motorola's faster refresh rate and brighter panel.
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Hardware
- Both Nothing Phone (4a) and Edge 70 Fusion feature Snapdragon 7s Gen 4
- Phone (4a) features a larger 5,300mm2 vapour chamber than Edge 70 Fusion's 4,472mm2
- The Nothing Phone (4a) should deliver better performance when pushed to its limits
-gaming-hands-on_webp.jpg)
Both the Nothing Phone (4a) and the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion feature Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. It's Qualcomm's latest mid-range octa-core processor based on TSMC's 4nm process with Corex-A720 and Cortex-A520 ARMv9.2-A cores and Adreno 810 GPU, which handles graphics duties.
Performance on both should be pretty identical when it comes to day-to-day usage. However, the Nothing Phone (4a) is better capable of dispelling heat faster during heavy loads, thanks to its larger 5,300mm2 vapour chamber. Compared to 4,473mm2 vapour chamber on the Edge 70 Fusion, the Phone (4a) is better suited for gaming and will throttle less.
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Software
- Nothing OS 4.1 offers a highly optimized, unique visual identity
- Motorola’s Hello UI provides a clean, stock-Android experience
- Nothing historically delivers much faster software and OS updates

Software preference is subjective, but I believe the Nothing OS 4.1 is better than Motorola's Hello UI. Although the latter is slightly more feature-rich, the Nothing OS is more optimised and fluid. Besides, Nothing is usually really quick to update its phones with new Android releases than Motorola.
Not to mention, Nothing OS has its own identity with monochrome icons, Essential Space and unique styling. Hello UI, on the other hand, still very much gives stock Android vibes and isn't as feature-rich.
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Camera
- Nothing dominates long-range photography with a 50MP periscope lens
- Motorola features a higher-resolution 13MP ultrawide camera
- Both smartphones utilize highly capable 50MP primary sensors
-design-close-up-at-the-back_jpg.jpg)
This is where both phones take a completely different approach. The Nothing Phone (4a) boasts a triple camera setup with 50 MP main, 50 MP periscope and 8 MP ultrawide lenses. The Edge 70 Fusion has two cameras – 50 MP wide and 13 MP ultrawide, which doubles as a macro shooter.
The main cameras on both phones are pretty similar, and the results should boil down to the software processing. The Ultrawide is better on the Edge 70 Fusion, both in terms of resolution and sensor size. However, where the Edge 70 Fusion really lacks the edge (pun-intended) is in the Telephoto department.

It doesn't have a Periscope sensor like on the Phone (4a), meaning you will have to rely on digital zoom. The Phone (4a) boasts an impressive reachability of 80mm at 3.5x zoom, and as we noted in our Nothing Phone (4a) review, it can reach farther distances while retaining the quality very well.
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Battery
- Motorola packs a massive, class-leading 7,000mAh battery.
- The Edge 70 Fusion charges significantly faster at 68W.

The Edge 70 Fusion blows the Phone (4a) out of the water with its gargantuan 7,000mAh Silicon Carbon battery. It could easily outlast Phone (4a)'s 5,400mAh Silicon Carbon battery. Not only that, but the Edge 70 Fusion can charge much faster at 68W compared to 50W on the Phone (4a).
Nothing Phone (4a) vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Which One Should You Buy?
Before we declare a winner, let's look at how their core specifications stack up against each other
| Specification | Nothing Phone (4a) | Motorola Edge 70 Fusion |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED, 120Hz, flat, 4,500 nits peak brightness | 6.78-inch 1.5K Extreme AMOLED, 144Hz, quad-curved, 5,200 nits peak brightness |

| Colours | Pink, White, Black, Blue | Orient Blue, Sporting Green, Blue Surf, Country Air, Silhoutte |
| Price | Rs 31,999 | Rs 26,999 |
Choosing between the two comes down to your priorities. The Edge 70 Fusion is priced aggressively at Rs 26,999, and it delivers absurdly good value with a smoother display, larger battery, faster charging and better durability for significantly less money.
However, if smartphone photography is important to you, or if you love the design of the Phone (4a) with the Glyph Bars, and want faster updates, the Nothing Phone (4a) justifies its higher Rs 31,999 price tag, although it could've been priced a little more aggressively.
