Apple wrapped up WWDC 26 last week and announced iOS 27 and all the new features coming to iPhones later this year. While the keynote was packed with AI features, including the new Siri and UI changes, Apple is seemingly working on additional features it did not announce during the keynote.
iOS 27 Could Let Users Choose Gemini and Claude Through Siri
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is still actively working on new features for iOS 27, which could debut by September 2026. According to him, the Cupertino giant is working to expand its Siri Extensions API and add more customisations to the camera app.

Starting with the Siri extensions, Apple is working to expand the same to make Siri compatible with more AI chatbots. Ultimately, iOS 27 could allow users to choose between Gemini and Claude and integrate directly as third-party Siri extensions on iPhones. Siri currently already supports ChatGPT, as the OpenAI partnership is still active.
Gurman notes that the delay in transitioning to this open API system stems from factors like potential conflicts with Apple's legal campaign against the EU's Digital Markets Act. He also notes that there's a desire to keep the spotlight on native Siri AI for the time being and potential confusion surrounding the current new Google Gemini partnership.
Additionally, Apple is also working on a new update to the Camera app, which would allow users to rearrange their shooting controls, making it more customisable. Lastly, Apple Watch users could be getting a simplified version of its popular Ultra-exclusive "Modular Ultra" watchface with a signature digital clock format.
With the first Developer Beta finally out and the first public beta expected in July 2026, there's a lot to look forward to. With Apple extending iOS 27 support for older iPhones, the iOS 27 eligible phones list has grown massively. More information about all the upcoming features and improvements should appear as we inch closer to launch, so stay tuned.
