At the WWDC 2026 event last night, Apple officially unveiled iOS 27, one of its biggest software updates in recent years in terms of AI and improvements. While most of the limelight was stolen by Siri AI, a large number of system-level changes went fairly unnoticed. One of them is the new resizable iPhone Mirroring capability, which could potentially hint at the folding iPhone.
iPhone Mirroring Is Now Resizable with iOS 27
The new upgraded functionality was shown off by iOS app developer Dylan on X. He mirrored an iPhone running iOS 27 on his MacBook and, for the first time, noticed a new option to expand the iPhone Mirroring view horizontally.

Previously, till iOS 26, Apple didn't allow users or developers to resize the iPhone Mirroring screen. It was fixed based on the iPhone and MacBook screen aspect ratios. However, with the new resizable iPhone Mirroring option now available, it is a clear indication that the Cupertino brand is prepping for the big reveal, the iPhone Fold.
Also, the developer did note that not all apps are currently able to switch to the landscape orientation. While he was able to expand Apple Music to landscape mode, it didn't follow the iPad-like UI which the iPhone Fold is expected to bring. However, he did note that other first-party apps like Settings followed the iPad UI orientation.

Moreover, he was also able to turn his own app into the landscape orientation but did say that only iOS 27-compiled app are currently supported meaning all first-party Apple apps and third-party apps that have already adopted iOS 27.
That said, while this added functionality to iPhone Mirroring doesn't explicitly mention iPhone Fold anywhere, it makes sense for Apple to experiment with adaptive UI now since the folding iPhone is just round the corner. However, we will have to wait till September 2026, to know for sure.
