Summary

  • Apple has announced the iPhone Pocket, a new 3D-knitted accessory that can carry iPhones and other items.
  • It features a ribbed fabric structure that can be stretched and attached to bags or worn on the body.
  • The iPhone Pocket will start retailing for $149.95 (approximately Rs 13,300) in the US, UK and select regions, but not in India as of yet.

Apple has showcased unique cases and accessories for its iPhone lineup throughout the years. The latest attempt gives users a new means to carry their favourite Apple device. Apple calls it the iPhone Pocket, and it's an apt name for a fabric-made bag that can be held in hand or worn on a body.

The iPhone Pocket arrives in a playful set of colourways to complement your style

The iPhone Pocket is a 3D-knitted open structure that Apple has made in collaboration with Japanese fashion designer brand Issey Miyake. Crafted in Japan, the accessory's design is inspired by the brand's iconic pleated clothing style.

Its ribbed fabric structure can be stretched to hold iPhones and other items that people often carry in their pockets. The knitted fabric can be stretched, making it easy for users to take a peek at their iPhone for notifications or access other items. The images shared by Apple already preview the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air snugly fit into the iPhone Pocket, but users can get this accessory to hold any iPhone they own.

The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use. iPhone Pocket explores the concept of ‘the joy of wearing iPhone in your own way.’ The simplicity of its design echoes what we practice at Issey Miyake — the idea of leaving things less defined to allow for possibilities and personal interpretation.

Apple is offering the iPhone Pocket in two designs – Short Strap and Long Strap. The short strap design is ideal when the Pocket is to be used in handheld form or when tied to another bag, while the long strap version is for when users want to wear it directly on their body, like a sling bag.

Apple and Issey Miyake share a design approach that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity, and delight. This clever extra pocket exemplifies those ideas and is a natural accompaniment to our products. The colour palette of iPhone Pocket was intentionally designed to mix and match with all our iPhone models and colours — allowing users to create their own personalized combination. Its recognizable silhouette offers a beautiful new way to carry your iPhone, AirPods, and favourite everyday items.

Apple is offering the iPhone Pocket Short Strap in six colours – lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black. The Long Strap version of the same will be available in sapphire, cinnamon, and black colourways.

The iPhone Pocket will retail at $149.95 (approximately Rs 13,300) for the short strap version and at $229.95 (approximately Rs 20,400) for the long strap design. Both versions can be purchased at select Apple Stores in the US, UK, France, Italy, Greater China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. Unfortunately, the iPhone Pocket isn't available in India just yet.
