With smart glasses shaping up to be the next big tech innovation, many rumours and leaks have pointed toward Apple entering the arena to compete with the likes of Meta and Samsung. Now, a new report further substantiates that by revealing the launch timeline and expected details of the first-ever Apple smart glasses.
Apple Smart Glasses Could Arrive by End of 2027
In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has revealed that behind closed doors, Apple is actively working on its first-ever AI smart glasses. The company is reportedly taking cues from the likes of Meta, Google and Samsung, prepping for a potential late 2027 launch window.
He further elaborates that the product is internally codenamed N50 and the Cupertino giant was looking to launch it in 2026 itself, with shipments beginning by early 2027. However, due to production line issues and supply chain hiccups, they now stand delayed to late 2027, which means shipments could begin in early 2028.

In terms of the Apple smart glasses specs, Gurman notes that they will be similar to what the Meta Ray-Ban glasses offer and could feature "oval-shaped cameras, unique colours, and multiple frame styles." Apple reportedly wants to position its smart glass as a companion health device and use augmented technology to achieve the same.
It will come with built-in cameras to capture footage and will also feature speakers and microphones for calls, music, notifications, and Siri wake-up. The glasses are also said to offer turn-by-turn walking directions and feature at least four potential designs - large rectangular frame, slimmer rectangular frame, large oval or circular frame and small oval or circular frame.

It could even come in a range of colour options, including a black model, an ocean blue one and a light brown colourway. It could cost somewhere between $200 (approximately Rs 20,000) and $500 (approximately Rs 48,000).
At the time of writing, it is unclear which Wayfarer brand Apple will choose for its smart glasses. For instance, Meta uses Ray-Ban and Oakley, while Samsung and Google smart glasses will use Gentle Monster and Warby Parker as their smart glasses partners.
