Alongside the Pixel 10 family of smartphones and accessories, the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Buds 2 Pro, Google announced a bunch of new features for Android 16. One such addition to the list is in the form of a dedicated Journal app exclusive to Pixel devices.
The brand new Google Journal app aims to let users track their daily day-to-day activities, revisit memories, track mood and practice journal entry. This makes this the only first-party journaling app for Android.

The application itself follows the latest Material 3 Expressive design language. The application itself is feature-rich with toggles for adding notes, dates, themes and more.
Moreover, the application is also powered by Google Gemini Nano. It uses on-device machine learning to provide private and personalised suggestions. Google is calling this "customised inspirations."

Additionally, the UI is also pretty intuitive and straightforward to use. Users will be able to either log a simple text entry or make it more detailed with pictures, places, activities, events and more. It is also secure, with the ability to lock journal entries.
There is even a dedicated built-in calendar that can help users track their weekly and monthly logs and progress. This is an important addition since it will help users build a healthy journaling habit.

Speaking of health, there is also the ability to track moods and mental well-being within the Google Journal app. It is complemented with useful monthly and weekly insights like most active time, total entries and longest word count.
With that said, the application is currently listed on the Google Play Store for download. However, it is currently exclusive to the Pixel 10 series of smartphones. We expect a wider rollout soon to different Pixel models and regions.
