Summary

  • Google is reportedly prepping a new strength training experience for the Pixel Watch 4.
  • It will enable strength training with advanced metrics like real-time workout guidance and form suggestion.
  • Swim tracking, cycling experience and activity recognition are also expected to improve.

Google is gearing up to launch the Pixel Watch 4 in August 2025, alongside the Pixel 10 series smartphones. While the core specifications and rumoured pricing have already leaked, the latest development sheds light on the fitness and wellness features the smartwatch will equip.

As per fellow tech publication Android Headlines, the Google Pixel Watch 4 will reportedly gain a new strength training module, built on top of the existing suite of fitness, health and wellness features available with Pixel watches.

The purpose of this new experience is to let users track interval training sessions right from their smartwatch. The custom Workout Builder will allow them to create interval workouts, warm-ups and cool-downs. This is an important inclusion, especially for athletes and individuals who are looking to maximise their performance while reducing the chances of injury.

Additionally, the publication claims that Google will supercharge this experience with AI-backed recommendation, like AI-generated daily Run Recommendations. However, these AI features will be part of the Fitbit Premium paywall.

Apart from this, the entire strength training experience will likely be backed by detailed advanced matrices and real-time workout guidance. This will probably include form insights, cadence, stride length, vertical oscillation, ground contact and more.

Moreover, existing features like swim tracking, Cycling experience and activity recognition are also reportedly getting much more useful with the Pixel Watch 4. For instance, the activity tracking feature on Pixel smartwatches can already recognise 40+ activities. With the Pixel Watch 4, it can likely better recognise them and add support for new activity recognition.

Additionally, improvements are also reportedly on the way in the form of a fine-tuned Readiness score for progress tracking and upgraded dual-band GPS for accurate tracking.

With that said, the Pixel Watch 4 is rumoured to be powered by the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor as the Pixel Watch 2 and 3.  The smartwatch is expected to arrive with Wear OS 6 out of the box with several new features like Breathing Emergencies with constant SpO2 monitoring and Emergency Satellite Communications.

The Pixel Watch 4 will probably witness a sizeable battery bump, with 327mAh on the 41 mm model and 459mAh on the 45 mm model.  The smartwatch is also expected to support Qi2 charging, just like the Pixel 10 series.

Lastly, expect the smartwatch to arrive in more colours this time, including Obsidian, Lemongrass, Indigo, Peony and Moonstone. It is also reportedly getting new band styles and improved screen repairability.

The Made By Google event will be held on August 20, 2025, where Google will reveal the Pixel 10 series alongside the smartwatch. It is rumoured to start from 399 euros (approximately Rs 40,000). However, we will know for sure when the smartwatch is finally unveiled. So, stay tuned for further updates.
