For millions of Android users who rely on two SIMs for work and personal life, managing calls on a single phone isn't always seamless. That could soon change, as Google could soon allow Android users to set a different ringtone for each of the two SIM cards, making things a lot more convenient.
Native Dual SIM Ringtones Feature Could Be Coming Soon to Android
Spotted first by Android Authority in Android Canary 2604 update, which rolled out recently, Google seems to be working on bringing native per-SIM ringtones to Android. While most Android manufacturers already have a similar feature in place, it's currently lacking in Pixel phones.

While the feature itself is not yet live or functional within the build, a string "sim_ringtone_pref_purpose" with the value "Allows the user to select and set a unique ringtone for a specific SIM card" was spotted in the code. This suggests Google has laid the groundwork for the feature, and it may arrive soon.
Right now, if you use a dual-SIM setup on an Android phone, it's hard to know which line is ringing without looking at the screen. Once added, users should be able to set different ringtones for each of the Dual SIM cards to make a distinction when their phone rings.
However, do note that manufacturers like OnePlus, Oppo and Motorola have had the feature in their UIs for quite some time. Because the feature is only preset in text strings as of now, we don't have a concrete release timeline for the same.
It is possible that the native dual-SIM ringtones could make their grand debut as one of the Android 17 features. Google has yet to officially confirm its release schedule, but with Google I/O 2026 date set for May 2026, we should hear more about this feature soon, so stay tuned.
