Google has been on a redesign spree lately and is actively giving its apps, features and their UI a much-needed Material 3 Expressive facelift. Now, it is testing a new UI and animations for the non-AI Voice Search on Android, which could roll out soon.
Android Voice Search Could Soon Gain Interactive Animations
The folks over at Android Authority managed to spot a new UI and animation that Google is testing for its Voice Search feature. This is part of the Google Search voice module and not Android's accessibility voice assist splash screen.

Currently, the Voice Search screen only shows the Google Talkback logo along with a gradient arc below and a single "Search a song" option. In the updated look, the bottom section now contains a new Auto Search On/Off option and four new search options to choose from - Search, Live, Song, Translate.
The Auto Search toggle is designed to let users finish their query before allowing the search to perform its actions. While on, voice search will process the user's query as soon as they stop talking. However, with Auto Search off, users can conduct a search only when they stop talking and it accounts for natural pauses and talking nuances.

Google is testing two different animations for Auto Search On/Off. When on, it displays a short and chunky waveform pattern when the user is talking. However, when off, it turns into an elongated side-scrolling waveform animation.
That said, it is unclear when this new Voice Search look will roll out, since this has been unearthed via an APK teardown. However, given Google's track record, we can expect the change to reflect shortly in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned.
