The Redmi K90 Max is finally official in China, after weeks of teasers and updates. It has launched alongside the budget Redmi Buds 8 and is positioned between the standard Redmi K90 and the top-tier Redmi K90 Pro Max. Positioned as a performance-driven premium mid-range offering, this is the first "K90 series" phone to feature an active cooling fan along with a flagship Dimensity processor.

Redmi K90 Max Specifications and Features

Before we even dive into the internals of the Redmi K90 Max, the design of the smartphone makes it a major talking point. It builds on the design of the Redmi K90 Pro Max, with its edge-to-edge camera island. However, it swaps the Bose-branded woofer for a physical cooling fan.

It even features narrow ventilation slits at the bottom of the camera deco for airflow and heat dissipationRedmi claims that this physical cooling implementation allows the K90 Max to drop its temperature by 10°C within 100 seconds via a dedicated high-speed cooling mode. It is further aided by the aerospace-grade aluminium alloy mid-frame for even heat distribution.

For performance, the smartphone relies on the flagship Dimensity 9500 chipset, making it the most powerful K90 series phone. The phone is paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. For software, K90 Max ships with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and five years of software support promise.
