Summary

  • Samsung Exynos 2600 is finally official as the world's first 2nm processor for future Galaxy flagships and folds.
  • It brings a 10-core CPU, the Xclipse 960 GPU, integrated NPU and a new Heat Pass Block cooling tech.
  • The upcoming Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+ could be powered by the Exynos 2600.

Samsung has finally unveiled the Exynos 2600 processor, its latest high-end chipset, which will power the next wave of flagship Galaxy smartphones. This is officially the world's first 2nm processor and comes with notable improvements in CPU, GPU, NPU and thermal performance.

Samsung Exynos 2600 Specifications and Features

The Exynos 2600 is manufactured on Samsung's GAA (Gate-all-around) 2nm process node. It features a 10-core CPU, comprising one Cortex-C1 Ultra performance core clocked at 3.8 GHz, three Cortex-C1 Pro cores clocked at 3.25 GHz and six Cortex-C1 Pro cores clocked at 2.75 GHz. On the graphics front, it sports the latest Xclipse 960 GPU.

In terms of performance, Samsung claims the new core architecture improves the overall performance by 39%. The Xclipse 960 is based on AMD's RDNA3.5 architecture, and the firm claims a 50% boost in FPS in Ray tracing. The GPU works in tandem with the all-new Exynos Neural Super Sampling to bring AI-based resolution upscaling and frame generation to the Exynos 2600.

Talking about the NPU, Samsung claims that this is one area which has been vastly improved with enhanced vector engine efficiency to accelerate generative AI models. This is thanks to 32K MAC NPU (2-GNPU and 2-SNPU), which promises a 113% increase in generative AI performance.

Moreover, the Exynos 2600 is the world's first processor to come with a heatsink embedded directly within the SoC. The all-new Heat Pass Block or HPB cooling tech is live with the Exynos 2600. It uses a passive copper heatsink to dissipate the heat generated from the chipset. This has led to a thermal performance improvement by 30%.

As for the other details, Exynos 2600 supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. There's support for 8K at 60 FPS, up to 320 MP single camera, 10-bit HEVC(H.265) encoding, Bluetooth 6.0 and Wi-Fi 7.

That said, the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus could become the first phones to feature the new SoC. However, with reports of Galaxy S26 series launch delay, it could be some time before we can see the brand-new Exynos 2600 chip in action.
