In a surprising turn of events, the latest information suggests that Samsung might not hit the brakes on the Galaxy S26+, which the firm was expected to drop and replace with the Galaxy S26 Edge.
Samsung is now considering launching the Galaxy S26+
According to a South Korean publication, TheElec, Samsung is now considering launching four models in the Galaxy S26 series, including the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26+, Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung seems to have hit a panic button, as a new internal codename, "M Plus", has surfaced for the Galaxy S26+.

The change of heart is reportedly driven by sales of the current generation Galaxy S25+. Samsung has apparently sold over 5,00,000 units of the device in the September to December timeline, suggesting a higher demand for the larger variant. Similarly, the firm has sold over 3,00,000 Galaxy S25 Edge units worldwide.
The report highlights the risk of dropping the Plus variant. With a target of shipping 67 lakh Galaxy S25+ units, Samsung could miss out on a significant chunk of sales by only relying on the slimmer Edge SKU.
Not to mention, the market still isn't too onboard with the idea of slim devices due to potential concerns around battery longevity. This is great news for fans who need the performance and display of the smaller Galaxy S series device but with a bigger screen.

While there's no information about its specifications, we learned earlier today that the standard Galaxy S26 Pro processor could very well be the Exynos 2600. Considering the only difference between the standard and Plus variant has been the screen size, it's possible that the Galaxy S26+ could also be powered by the Exynos 2600 SoC.
While Samsung is yet to confirm anything about the Galaxy S26 series officially, it appears that the firm is closely monitoring market performance to define its 2026 flagship strategy.
Therefore, nothing is set in stone yet, and users should take this information with a grain of salt. The Galaxy S26 series is expected to arrive in January 2026. Stay tuned as we cover all the new information about the upcoming flagships.
