Summary

  • Reports suggest that Samsung could add built-in magnets to its upcoming Galaxy S26 series for Qi2 support.
  • The brand is also working on a Magnetic Wireless Charger that could charge the S26 Ultra at 25W.
  • Besides the wireless charger, Samsung could also be working on accessories like wallets, power banks and more.

Samsung's Galaxy S26 series could be the brand's first true step into magnetic charging. Fresh accessory listings hint that Samsung isn't just adopting Qi2, but it's building a whole ecosystem around it.

Samsung Qi2 magnetic wireless charger could be on the way

According to a report by WinFuture, Samsung is not only adding built-in magnets to the phone but has also developed a first-party accessory to leverage this. The new accessory, dubbed the Samsung Magnetic Wireless Charger, bears the model number EP-P2900 and could charge at 25W with the new Qi2.2 standard.

We expect Samsung to unveil most accessories alongside the Galaxy S26 series during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, rumoured to take place on January 24, 2026. Retailer listings suggest the charger will come in a Dark Grey finish and offer compatibility with Galaxy S series, Z series and Galaxy Buds devices.

The recent Galaxy Buds 4 leak revealed upgraded battery capacity in the Pro, but the retailer info adds another specification to the puzzle, which is built-in magnets in the case.

The Magnetic Charger leak also adds to the previously leaked Galaxy S26 specifications leak. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely utilise the charger's maximum 25W potential, while the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ will likely support only 20W. In terms of wired charging, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may get 60W charging while the S26 and S26+ could top out at 25W and 45W, respectively.

The shift to full Qi2 compatibility could mark a significant shift in the Samsung ecosystem. This means Galaxy S26 users will be able to utilise a wide range of accessories, natively, including car mounts, charging pucks, snap-on wallets, power banks and even SSDs, without requiring a specialised case.

More information about the Galaxy S26 series is expected to arrive soon as we leap into January 2026. More details about the upcoming Qi2 accessories should be unveiled, so stay tuned.
