Samsung's flagship Galaxy design language has been so consistent over the years that even minor tweaks tend to stand out. But if a new leak is anything to go by, the brand may finally be gearing up for a more meaningful shift with the Galaxy S27 series. Expected to launch in 2027, the upcoming phones could depart from the familiar rear camera look to add one key feature that fans have been waiting for the longest.
Galaxy S27 to Change Rear Camera Placement for Magnetic Charging
A new report coming out of South Korea via Naver blog has outlined the possibility of Samsung exploring a new rear camera design for the Galaxy S27 series. It involves changing the placement of the current pill-shaped vertical camera deco for a redesigned camera island, much different from the Galaxy S26 series.

The primary reason for this shift is said to be the South Korean brand's desire to finally add magnetic wireless charging in the Galaxy S27 series. If true, this will seriously impress fans as the Galaxy S26 series skipped Qi2 charging, even after multiple leaks claiming otherwise.
However, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide dummy units also hinting at MagSafe charging implementation, the prospect seems more likely than ever. With the current Galaxy S26 series, users can enable magnetic charging by using first-party MagSafe cases.
However, the biggest issue is the camera deco placement, which gets in the way of most MagSafe accessories in the market. Since the charging ring is placed too close to the camera deco, it gets in the way of most MagSafe accessories currently available in the market. This makes it almost impossible for users to gain the full advantages of MagSafe charging.

Hence, with the Galaxy S27 lineup switching things up, Samsung could end up bringing a new design identity going forward. However, there is still no guarantee that this is going to happen. The blog post also mentions that a large part of this change will directly translate to higher costs.
If the current RAM crisis does not show any signs of slowdown, Samsung could skip native magnetic wireless charging for the Galaxy S27 series and reserve it for the Galaxy S28 lineup in 2028 instead.
