Samsung's upcoming folding phones have been the talk of the internet lately, especially the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. However, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also set to debut next month and multiple reports have revealed key details about the clamshell foldable. The latest leak suggests that Samsung could go back to a dual chip strategy with the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 Could Offer Different Chips, Based on Region
A new Navear blog post by industry insider Lanzuk has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 will feature a dual-chipset strategy for different launch regions. If true, we might see the clamshell fold launch in some markets with the flagship Exynos 2600 chipset and in others with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor (presumably the" for Galaxy" variant).

This will be a direct contradiction to the previously leaked Samsung 2026 foldable chipset strategy, where the Exynos 2600 was said to be exclusively reserved for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 were expected to exclusively use the high-end Qualcomm processor.
This won't be the first time Samsung has resorted to a dual chip stategy for one of its flagship phones. The brand has pivoted to a split chipset strategy with its Galaxy S series phones in the past. It used the same to differentiate the standard and 'Plus' models from the 'Ultra'. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S24 was the last smartphone to launch with both Exynos and Snapdragon chips, depending on the region.
Now, with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 as well, it seems like the processor of choice could differ based on regions. Initial estimates reveal that markets like the USA, Canada, China and Japan could see Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Z Flip 8, while markets like India, Europe and South Korea might end up getting the Exynos version.
That said, since there is no official word yet on this shift in chipset strategy, we urge readers to take the information with a pinch of salt. With the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 expected to go official at the Unpacked event in July 2026, we only have one more month left before launch. So, stay tuned.
