Samsung's foldables have reached a point where big upgrades are no longer the norm and that trend may unfortunately continue with its next flagship. According to a report by South Korean tech publication ETNews, Samsung is expected to stick with the same large display setup on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 could feature Samsung's M13 display yet again
For those unaware, in the mobile display hierarchy, the Samsung Display-made M14 OLED panel is the gold standard. It is said to be about 10% to 20% more power efficient and 20% to 30% brighter than the M13 OLED screen.
While the latest Galaxy S26 Ultra has moved on to it, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will reportedly be sticking with the M13 display. If true, this will officially mark the third consecutive year of Samsung using the same display on its foldables, having introduced it with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

It's not surprising since the ongoing RAM crisis has already caused the smartphone market to inflate beyond anything we've ever seen. From the looks of it, Samsung doesn't want to ride the tide to the point of no return and keep foldable prices in check.
However, that doesn't mean that the brand will not work towards some meaningful upgrades inside. As per a previous report, One UI 9 features a Foreign Material Detection feature to alert users if debris is trapped in the hinge. This could be a silent hero in keeping repair costs at bay.
Meanwhile, another report suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could feature a creaseless display, thanks to an ultra-thin glass that is said to reduce the crease by 20%.
All things considered, the reported M13 OLED displays of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 wouldn't be that bad in this economy after all.
