In an incredibly strange turn of events, Samsung has decided to reverse the recent Galaxy M47 5G price hike. The smartphone's cost has now been restored to its original launch price, bringing relief to buyers who held off on their purchase after a sudden and steep price increase right after launch.
Galaxy M47 5G Price Rolled Back to Original
The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G launched in India on June 29, 2026, for Rs 25,999 for the 6 GB + 128 GB variant. The 8 GB + 128 GB and 8 GB + 256 GB models were priced at Rs 28,999 and Rs 33,999, respectively. However, within just 8 days of availability, the Galaxy M47 5G price was hiked by a staggering Rs 8,000 to Rs 32,999 for the base model and Rs 41,999 for the highest storage variant.
The move drew a lot of criticism from buyers who could not get a unit in the first sale, as Samsung raised prices merely days after. However, the prices have now reverted to the original MRP structure:
- 6 GB + 128 GB: Rs 25,999
- 8 GB + 128 GB: Rs 28,999
- 8 GB + 256 GB: Rs 33,999
This incident highlights an ongoing trend in the Indian smartphone market, where the ongoing RAM crisis has driven price hikes across various smartphone brands since Q4 2025. In fact, Samsung has raised prices on several budget Galaxy A and Galaxy F series phones in recent months to offset component shortages.

For consumers who couldn't buy it due to the sudden price hike, the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G is now available at its launch price. While the Rs 3,000 introductory card discount, which brought the phone down to Rs 22,999, is no longer available, buyers can still avail a Rs 1,000 off on Axis Bank cards and no-cost EMI.
Considering the market consensus, the Galaxy M47 5G offers great value on paper with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR4X RAM, a 6-year major updates policy and a 6,000mAh battery.
It will be interesting to see if the prices hold up for at least a few weeks, which seems unlikely, as a recent report projects a further 20-30% increase in DRAM prices. Therefore, those in dire need of a phone should make haste before the situation worsens.
