Chinese camera sensor brand SmartSens, popularly supplying cameras to Huawei, has launched its first-ever 200 MP sensor for smartphones. It is aimed at debuting the brand's foray into high-end smartphone imaging and plans to take on the likes of Samsung ISOCELL and Sony LYT.
SmartSens SCC62HS 200 MP Camera Specifications and Features
The SmartSens SCC62HS 200 MP camera is built around a large 1/1.55-inch optical format with 0.5μm pixels. It is manufactured utilising a domestically produced 55nm Stacked BSI manufacturing process and incorporates several imaging technologies like PixGain HDR, SFCPixel and AllPix ADAF.
On paper, it is close to the Samsung ISOCELL HP5 200 MP sensor but better, thanks to native LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology support. It allows the SCC62HS better handle light and dynamic range, making the sensor behave close to how the human eye perceives scenes.

One of the key features of the new sensor is the PixGain HDR technology, which the company claims can deliver up to 86.3 dB of dynamic range while reducing motion artefacts. The sensor also comes with on-chip dual-frame fusion, reducing the load of HDR processing on the smartphone and handling it within the sensor itself.
It is also compatible with Staggered HDR and NDOL HDR modes for flexibility in shooting modes. For low-light performance, SmartSens claims that the SCC62HS 200 MP sensor can achieve a sensitivity rating of 3574mV/lux*s and a read noise level of 0.92e. It also comes with AllPix ADAF and Sparse PDAF autofocus systems to preserve details and clarity in low light.
That said, the new SmartSens 200 MP camera sensor is expected to enter mass production in Q3 2026 and could debut inside the Huawei Pura 90 series. It is unclear if the sensor will also make its way to other manufacturers like Xiaomi, Vivo and more.
