Sony has expanded its open-ear audio lineup in India with the launch of the LinkBuds Clip, a pair of clip-on wireless earbuds priced under Rs. 20,000. The company had already dipped into this space with the ring-shaped LinkBuds Open, but the Clip switches to a more conventional ear-hook form factor, entering a segment that Shokz and Bose have been building out over the past couple of years.
Sony LinkBuds Clip Specifications and Features
The earbuds use a 10 mm driver unit per side and skip active noise cancellation altogether, since there's no in-ear seal to work with in the first place.

What Sony has focused on instead is fixing the one thing open-ear earbuds have traditionally struggled with, and that is call quality. The LinkBuds Clip pairs dual microphones with a bone conduction sensor that reads voice vibrations directly, and an AI-based noise reduction algorithm processes inputs from both systems to filter out background noise during calls.
Users can choose between three listening modes on the Sony LinkBuds Clip. Standard mode is meant for everyday use, Voice Boost is meant to make voices clearer in noisy environments, and Sound Leakage Reduction mode helps prevent audio from leaking out when you're in places like offices or public transport.

Sony's Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) also runs in the background to restore high-frequency detail that typically gets lost during wireless audio compression. A 10-band equaliser is available via the companion Sound Connect app, which also houses scene-based listening modes that adapt automatically to activities like walking, running or gym sessions.
Connectivity on the Sony LinkBuds Clip is handled over Bluetooth 5.3, with support for Google Fast Pair on Android and Swift Pair for quick setup on Windows 10 and 11 PCs. The earbuds also support multipoint pairing and a single-earbud mode for switching between devices or using just one bud at a time. Rounding off the software side, the LinkBuds Clip offers hands-free Google Gemini integration.

As per the brand, each of the earbuds can last up to 9 hours on a single charge, with the charging case adding another 28 hours. Additionally, a three-minute quick charge is good for an additional hour of playback.
The earbuds carry an IPX4 rating, which should hold up against sweat and light splashes, though it isn't built for anything beyond that.
