A few days back, Vivo announced the official launch date of OriginOS 6. The brand has also started slowly teasing its features, revealing key details of the Android 16-based OS update. Now, the upcoming OriginOS 6 lockscreen has been revealed, with a borrowed feature from Apple's playbook.
OriginOS 6 features Liquid Glass design of iOS 26
The official Weibo handle of Vivo has teased the new OriginOS 6 lockscreen design. It features new clocks which have a translucent background, are adaptive and have a glass-like appearance. If these features sound familiar, this is because these are the exact same options that iOS 26 with Liquid Glass design offers.

Looks like Vivo made its iOS 26 "inspired" design a little too obvious. Vivo has shared a brief rundown of this new design along with more lockscreen images. The brand claims that OriginOS 6 uses "real-time rendering technology to simulate the refraction and shadows of natural light". The OS has been apparently designed to incorporate Vivo's latest material innovation, which takes inspiration from nature to create a seamless experience.
Additionally, the lockscreen on OriginOS 6 now follows the "Huarong Grid", which allows for free-flow customisation of both layout and material. According to the brand, "through subtle variations in transparency, it creates a natural drop shadow against the background, allowing the lock screen image to blend more seamlessly with the user interface".

This explanation somewhat falls in line with what Vivo's OriginOS Product Manager, Ziang Huang, claimed when he said that the next OS upgrade will bring a new Comfort Engineering design and experience principle.
However, no matter how the brand puts it, there is no doubt that Apple did this first. Ever since Liquid Glass dropped, brands have been racing to adopt the same throughout their OS elements. This has not only made every OS look painfully similar, but has also stopped brands from creating their own unique flair and identity.
That said, OriginOS 6 is confirmed to launch on October 10, 2025. So, stay tuned as we cover the upcoming Android 16-based OS when it launches in a few weeks time. Expect the upcoming Vivo X300 series and the OnePlus 15 to come fresh out of the oven with OriginOS 6.
