The rumour mill has already started churning out reports about the Vivo X500 series, which is still months away from launch. As per the leaks, Vivo is testing a new Pro Max variant and we now get to know the camera specifications and the chipset used in the smartphone.
Vivo X500 Pro Max Could Use a Sony LOFIC Sensor
A new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has revealed the alleged camera specifications of the Vivo X500 Pro Max. As per that, it seems like Vivo is planning to use a 50 MP 1/1.28-inch Sony sensor with LOFIC capabilities for the main camera and it could be the upcoming Soy LYT 838 sensor.

While it is unlikely to be the Sony LYT-901 sensor, it seems like Vivo is not limiting LOFIC capabilities to only the Ultra model from the next generation. For context, the Vivo X300 Ultra is the only X300 series phone to use LOFIC capabilities via the LYT-901 sensor.
For those unaware, LOFIC or Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor technology is an up-and-coming camera sensor tech which enables lens manufacturers to better handle light and dynamic range, making the sensor behave close to how the human eye perceives scenes. It is what the all-new SmartSens SCC62HS 200 MP sensor flaunts.

As for the other cameras, DCS claims a 200 MP 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto lens and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle camera with a Sony IMX8 series sensor. Additionally, the phone is expected to ship with the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset and feature a 2K display with LIPO technology.
The Vivo X500 Pro Max is also said to bring an 8,00mAh battery and ship with Origin OS 7 based on Android 17. That said, it is unclear at the time of writing if these are going to be the final specs of the Vivo X500 Pro Max. DCS does say that the camera details are based on the current engineering prototype, meaning it could change before launch, which is expected to happen in Q3 2026. So, stay tuned.
