Vivo has officially launched the X300 FE, and it brings much-needed upgrades that are buried in the specifics rather than what it looks like on paper. While its predecessor, the X200 FE, was a solid phone, the Vivo X300 FE tries fixing all the complaints users had about the previous model, but does it succeed? Here is the breakdown of how the Vivo X300 FE compares to the Vivo X200 FE.
Vivo X300 FE vs X200 FE: Design
- The Vivo X300 FE features a horizontal camera module at the back, which is more ergonomic and doesn't wobble on flat surfaces
- Vivo has kept the dimensions nearly similar to the X200 FE, but the X300 FE is slightly heavier

From the front, the Vivo X300 FE and X200 FE look almost the same. The X300 FE has slimmer bezels, but the real story unfolds at the back. The Vivo X200 FE features a vertical camera island at the back, whereas the Vivo X300 FE takes a complete paradigm shift in its design philosophy with a horizontal iPhone Air-like camera module.
In my opinion, this is a great change in ergonomics. Because the bar goes all the way across, the phone doesn't wobble when placed on a flat table. It also feels just as tough in hand, and the new Urban Olive colour gives it a much fresher look.

While the X300 FE is slightly heavier, it more than makes up for it in other aspects, which we will touch upon later.
Vivo X300 FE vs X200 FE: Display
- Both smartphones boast the same display sizes, but the Vivo X300 FE has slimmer bezels with much larger screen-to-body ratio
- The Vivo X300 FE also gets an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, resulting in faster unlocks

While the actual display panel hasn't changed much, with the same 6.31-inch 1.5K screen that reaches 5,000 nits of peak brightness, what has improved is the way you unlock your phone.
The Vivo X300 FE moves to an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner from the optical scanner of its predecessors. It should be faster, more accurate and more efficient.
Both Vivo phones come with 10-bit LTPO AMOLED panels with 120 Hz refresh rates. While the Vivo X200 FE boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 90.2%, the Vivo X300 FE bumps it up significantly to 94.38%, all thanks to the slimmer bezels. This means the phone also looks more premium than its predecessor.
Vivo X300 FE vs X200 FE: Hardware
- The Vivo X300 FE boasts much better performance with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 compared to Dimensity 9300+, and it's also much more efficient
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is based on TSMC's 3nm process, which makes it much more efficient compared to Dimensity 9300+
- The Vivo X300 FE comes with faster UFS 4.1 storage compared to the UFS 3.1 storage found on the X200 FE

This is where the Vivo X300 FE clearly outshines the X200 FE. The Vivo X300 FE ditches MediaTek in favour of Snapdragon. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while the X200 FE has a Dimensity 9300+ processor.
The 8 Gen 5 is not only more powerful with its 3rd Gen Oryon cores, but it's also more efficient with TSMC's 3nm process (vs 4 nm on the MediaTek). In our testing, the Vivo X300 FE leaves its predecessor in the dust, scoring nearly 2.8 million points in AnTuTu.
It also uses faster UFS 4.1 storage, so titles like Genshin Impact run at 60FPS with relative ease. Besides being efficient, the X300 FE should also run significantly cooler, making it a clear winner if gaming is your priority.
Vivo X300 FE vs X200 FE: Software
- Both smartphones run OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, but the X300 FE does it out of the box, while the X200 FE recently got the update
- The Vivo X300 FE is promised five years of major updates, whereas the Vivo X200 FE will get three, out of which it has just exhausted one
- OriginOS 6 on X300 FE brings Shake & Share feature and a host of image and writing tools powered by AI, alongside an improved Origin Island experience

Both the Vivo X300 FE and X200 FE run on OriginOS 6 features based on Android 16, but the newer X300 FE comes with OriginOS 6 out of the box. Vivo has also bumped the number of promised updates to 5 years, meaning the X300 FE will not only get an extra update but will also last longer because it was released a year later.
Besides, the X300 FE also gets new features like Shake & Share, which is expected to remain exclusive to the Vivo X300 FE and Vivo X300 Ultra for the time being. Vivo is also leaning heavily into AI image generation and AI writing tools, which are also present in the X200 FE, alongside the new and improved Origin Island.
Vivo X300 FE vs X200 FE: Cameras
- Both the Vivo X300 FE and X200 FE boast the same camera setup consisting of a 50 MP main, 50 MP telephoto and 8 MP ultrawide camera
- The front-facing camera is a 50 MP snapper, but while the X300 FE supports the second-generation Zeiss teleconverter, the X200 FE only supports first-gen

The camera hardware on both phones is identical, with a 50 MP main snapper, 50 MP telephoto and an 8 MP ultrawide unit. The main change, however, is that the X300 FE supports the newer Telephoto Extender G2 that Vivo introduced with the X300 series. This means users can not only take advantage of the new hardware but also use AI zoom features.
Vivo X300 FE vs X200 FE: Battery and Charging
- Both the X300 FE and X200 FE feature massive 6,500mAh batteries with 90W fast charging, enough to last for an entire day
- However, the newer X300 FE also includes 40W wireless charging, making it a more complete flagship offering. This was missing from the X200 FE

While the battery capacity itself remains unchanged on the X300 FE at 6,500mAh with 90W fast charging, one of the additions this year is 40W wireless charging. The X200 FE missed out on wireless charging, which turned out to be a major point of contention amongst fans. With support for 40W wireless charging, you can drop your phone on a charging pad, adding to the overall flagship experience of the X300 FE.
Vivo X300 FE vs Vivo X200 FE: Which Phone Should You Buy?
The answer should be pretty straightforward by now, but before we delve into the same, here are all the specifications of the Vivo X300 FE and X200 FE side-by-side:

| Colours | Lilac Purple, Graphite Black, Urban Olive | Luxe Grey, Amber Yellow, Frost Blue |
| Price | Rs 64,999 | Rs 59,999 (discounted) |
The X200 FE is still a great phone, but it feels like a "lite" flagship in front of the Vivo X300 FE. It lacks wireless charging and the speed of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Therefore, if you want a phone that feels truly high-end, the Vivo X300 FE is the way to go. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is great for gaming, and the new camera bar design is more practical and ergonomic. It's a much better "Pro" experience for the price.
