During its WWDC 2025 event in June, Apple took the wrappers off of iOS 26. Now, at the "Awe dropping" event today, alongside the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple has also announced the official stable rollout date of iOS 26 to eligible devices.
Apple will release the public stable build of iOS 26 on September 15, 2025. As always, all the iPhone 17 models and the iPhone Air run iOS 26 out of the box. Currently, Apple has made the Release Candidate for beta testers live on the Apple Developers platform. This is going to be the last beta build of iOS before the stable update hits eligible iPhones next week.
Speaking of eligibility, iOS 26 can run on the Apple A13 Bionic or newer chipsets, meaning the iPhone 11 and all subsequent models will be eligible to download the iOS 26 update. So, devices like the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16e and more are going to receive the latest OS update.

iOS 26 has a bunch of new features in terms of design and functionality. For instance, it brings the Liquid Glass UI overhaul that adds a translucent effect which reflects and refracts like glass to offer a cohesive look on the home screen, lock screen, Control Centre, apps, and across the whole system.
It also brings several new features like Spatial Scene animations, Lock screen clock customisation, Hold Assist, redesigned Photos app, Live Translation, customisable chat backgrounds, Image Playground and more.
Users currently enrolled in Developer Beta or Public Beta programs can install the iOS 26 Beta by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Update. Now, besides iOS 26, Apple has also announced the release candidate for iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, visionOS 26 and tvOS 26.
