Apple is reportedly planning one of the biggest overhauls to the iPhone Camera app in years with iOS 27. According to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the update could introduce a fully customisable Camera interface, allowing users to rearrange and choose camera controls based on their shooting preferences.
iOS 27 Could Finally Give iPhone Users a Pro-Level Camera Interface
As per the latest report, Apple may let users select different "widgets" for the Camera app interface from a transparent widget tray at the bottom of the app. These widgets are said to be divided into categories like Basic, Manual and Settings, giving users far more flexibility.
The report claims iPhone users will be able to stick with the default layout, switch to an "advanced" setup or build a completely custom arrangement of controls.
The new layout is also expected to adapt depending on the selected shooting mode. Photo, Video and Portrait modes may each get their own unique widget configurations, making the app feel more dynamic. Apple is also reportedly moving some existing controls to a redesigned panel placed beside the shutter button.

One of the biggest additions for iOS 27 is said to be a brand-new Siri mode inside the Camera app as part of a deeper integration of Apple Intelligence. This mode is expected to integrate Apple's Visual Intelligence features directly into the camera experience.
Instead of launching Visual Intelligence separately, users could soon access AI-powered scene recognition and contextual assistance directly from the Camera interface.
This appears to fall in line with reports of Apple planning on a major Siri overhaul and even a dedicated Siri app in iOS 27. Moreover, previous reports also suggested that iOS 27could bring multi-AI support beyond Siri to core Apple features.
Apart from that, more recent leaks also suggested that iOS 27 will introduce generative AI-backed photo editing tools. These tools are said to help users extend images, reframe shots and enhance photos automatically right from inside the Photos app.
Apple is expected to officially unveil iOS 27 during the WWDC 2026 event next month, so we'll get to know more then. Till then, stay tuned.
