At the ongoing Android Show I/O Edition 2026, Google just announced several new Gemini AI features that are coming to Chrome on Android. These new AI-powered Chrome features are expected to elevate the overall browsing experience and help users make the most out of Gemini from Chrome itself.

Chrome Gets New Gemini-Powered AI Features on Android

Built on Gemini 3.1, the new AI features will be baked right into the Chrome browser on Android and Google has confirmed that users will be able to access all the intelligence capabilities, starting with Smart Assistance and agentic browsing.

Gemini will now let users access Google Workspace apps right from the Chrome web browser. Users will be able to click on the Gemini logo from the address bar to connect directly with workspace apps like Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Keep, Google Calendar and more.

Also, with Gemini Personal Intelligence turned on, users will be able to get context-aware Gemini answers right from the Chrome browser, without even needing to open the Gemini app separately.

This extends further with Gemini's agentic browsing capabilities on Chrome. Gemini will be now able to read and analyse on-screen content to provide contextual answers or even summarize long articles and let users ask follow-up questions regarding the content of the web page.

Next, Google will now enable AI image generation using Nano Banana, right from the Chrome browser on Android. It will leverage context-aware agentic browsing capabilities of Gemini to let users generate images, infographics, visual representations and more on the fly. It will even let users edit the images right from the Chrome browser, eliminating the need to switch between apps.

Lastly, the most interesting Gemini feature that will land on Chrome for Android is auto browse. Previously only available on Chrome for web, auto browse helps users ask Gemini to complete multi-step tasks for personalised and context-aware results, by making use of AI agents.

Now, with the feature live for Chrome on Android, it will let users invoke Gemini from the address bar to handle tedious tasks like ticket booking, ordering online and more using Gemini while their browsing experience remains uninterrupted. It will still require manual confirmation due to security reasons however, auto browse will be able to automate multi-step processes which were previously manually handles.

That said, all the new Gemini features will arrive to Chrome on Android by end of June 2026. It will first go official in the USA for devices running Android 12 and later. Auto browse will initially only rollout to Google AI Pro and Ultra users in the USA, with a minimum requirement of 4 GB of RAM and English-US device language.
