Summary

  • Google has slashed the prices of Veo 3 by half, with Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast costing $0.40 and $0.15 per second.
  • Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast will support vertical video outputs at a 9:16 ratio, with high definition video generation at 1080p.
  • The 9:16 aspect ratio, combined with 1080p quality will help users upload short-form content on Shorts and Reels.

Google has announced three new updates for its Veo video generation models, all of which make Veo more accessible to creators and developers. The firm has slashed the prices by half and is introducing high-quality video generation and a new aspect ratio.

Starting today, Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast will support vertical video outputs at a 9:16 ratio, alongside high definition video generation at 1080p. The pricing has also been slashed with Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast costing $0.40 (approximately Rs 35) and $0.15 (approximately Rs 15) per second, respectively (previously $0.75 and $0.40).

Google says the new vertical format support is tailored for social media and mobile-first use cases. Creators will now see an Aspect Ratio option where they can set it to 9:16.

This will help them upload the videos directly to platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. The quality bump to 1080p from 720p should help users produce high-quality videos.

The firm says Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast are now considered stable for scaled production, meaning developers can rely on them for larger workloads and applications. Google also demoed a new MediaSim app, which integrates Gemini's multimodal features with Veo 3, allowing it to create interactive media simulations.

Besides the new additions to Veo 3, Google recently pushed new languages to AI Mode, which also uses a custom Gemini 2.5 model. Google also rolled out its Nano Banana image editing model to Gemini, which allows users to edit or reimagine their photos with simple prompts.

With these recent additions, it's evident that Google is eyeing a broader push for its AI tools by trying to make them more accessible and do more. The firm may announce a lot more things in the coming months, so stay tuned!
