Following the successful experiment of the wide vertical Huawei Pura X foldable earlier this year, the brand is reportedly fast-tracking its successor. New leaks suggest the Huawei Pura X2 is already in development and is tentatively scheduled for launch in early 2026.
Huawei Pura X2 could use the Kirin 9030 chipset
According to the tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the Huawei Pura X2 will likely be powered by the Kirin 9030 SoC, which was recently launched with the Mate 80 series launch. This is a slight step up from the Pura X that debuted with Kirin 9020 in March 2025.

The original Pura X challenged the standard clamshell design by offering a unique 16:10 aspect ratio screen, and the leak suggests the Pura X2 could stick to the same as well. This made it significantly wider than the competitors, like the Galaxy Z Flip.
The gamble appears to have paid off for Huawei, with reports indicating the form factor was well-received to warrant a direct sequel. It functions more like a mini-tablet than a traditional tall-and-narrow flip phone.

While we do know a lot about the Kirin 9030, the specifications of the Pura X2 are currently unknown. However, considering it's a sequel, we could expect a bigger cover display, battery and better cameras.
We expect the Pura X2 to launch sometime in the first quarter of 2026. While an official confirmation from Huawei seems far away, leaks and rumours about the specifications of the phone should start appearing soon, so stay tuned.
