Apple recently unveiled iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 and now, users on the first developer beta are gradually coming across some interesting features tucked deeper in the system. Now, we get to know that Apple could be making iPhone recovery much easier with iOS 27.
iOS 27's New Recovery Menu Includes Software Updates and Diagnostics
Screenshots shared by tipster Aaron Perris on X reveal a new recovery interface that appears when users hold the power button down while turning on their Apple iPhones. The new menu includes several recovery options:
- Recovery Assistant
- Software Update
- Diagnostics Mode
- Erase All Content and Settings
- Recovery Mode via Mac

These tools could allow users to troubleshoot and restore their iPhones directly on the device itself without immediately needing a Mac or PC.
Among the new additions, Recovery Assistant appears designed to automatically identify and fix software-related issues. On the other hand, the Software Update option could let users install the latest iOS version even when the device is unable to boot normally.
Meanwhile, Diagnostics Mode will "allow Apple Support to run tests to identify hardware and software issues."
The new iPhone recovery options have not been officially announced, suggesting it may still be under testing in the first iOS 27 Developer Beta build. If it makes it into the final stable release, it could become one of the most useful quality-of-life improvements in the update, especially for those dealing with software problems.
