All Nothing Phones so far have been promised three years of major Android updates with two years of security updates. However, with the upcoming Nothing Phone (3), the firms seems to be upping its software game to compete with the competition, and will offer more updates to match the industry standards.
Nothing recently took to its official X (formerly Twitter) handle to confirm that the upcoming Phone (3) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Nothing's co-founder and India Head, Akis Evangelidis shared the post as well, responding to which a user asked why Nothing didn't consider Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 over the 8s Gen 4. That's when Evangelidis confirmed and explained why the Phone (3) will get five years of major updates and seven years of security patches.
8 Gen 3 has a weaker GPU, NPU, connectivity and ISP - and default software support is 4 & 4. Phone (3) will have 5 & 7.

Turns out, the reason Nothing chose the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and not the 8 Gen 3 is due to the latter's update policy. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is rated to receive five major updates, whereas the 8 Gen 3 is rated for four.
As for the Nothing Phone (3)'s design, we already know that it ditches glyph lights for a dot-matrix design. Besides, it's confirmed to have three cameras at the back, one of which could be a periscope telephoto snapper. Another confirmed specification is the battery, which could be a 5,000mAh unit with supposedly 100W fast charging. However, besides the above specifications, most of the aspects of the device are under the wraps.
The Phone (3) launches on July 1 and is rumoured to boast a 6.77-inch display and come in two storage variants – 12 GB + 256 GB and 16 GB + 512 GB. Phone (3) is expected to launch with Android 16 out of the box, and a host of improvements in the upcoming Nothing OS version.
Nothing's CEO Carl Pei has also previously announced that the phone could cost come at around the 800 pound (approximately Rs 93,000) price mark.
