Samsung's One UI has always paid keen focus towards privacy and security, and the company is taking another step in that direction. To prevent users from opening malicious apps, a new security feature called Phishing App Risk Alert is coming with the One UI 9 update to all supported Galaxy devices.
One UI 9's New Security Feature Will Block Users from Opening Phishing Apps
Samsung has officially announced a new Phishing App Risk Alert feature, a new One UI 9 feature that will cross-reference data from the Galaxy Store and its registered apps to flag phishing apps and prevent users from launching them. One UI 8.5 currently prevents users from installing malicious or phishing apps and this seems to be an evolution of said feature.

Even if someone manages to install the app through other methods like ADB, Phishing App Risk Alert will block the app from launching and advise users to uninstall it from their Samsung phones. Samsung will also check whether the app was installed during the same time as a suspected phishing call was ongoing, which will further help flag the app.
The Phishing App Risk Alert feature is said to arrive with the One UI 9 update and will be first seen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which are set to launch in July 2026.
However, it is unclear whether users who are installing open source apps from other app markets will face issues when trying to use unverified apps because of this feature. It will definitely create a lot of friction for the users of those apps, but how much impact it will have is presently unclear.
