The upcoming Galaxy S26 series has now become a regular member of the rumour mill. With new information surfacing almost every day, we have a good idea what Samsung is cooking behind the scenes. Now, a new report has shed light on the lineup's alleged wireless charging upgrade.

Galaxy S26 series could get 25W wireless charging support

As per South Korean publication ET News, Samsung might add faster wireless charging speed support to the entire Galaxy S26 series lineup. The report claims that while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will gain 25W wireless charging support, the standard Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus will settle for 20W.

If true, this will mark the first major boost in wireless charging performance in almost six years. For context, from the Galaxy S20 series back in 2020 till the Galaxy S25 lineup in 2025, all models maxed out at 15W wireless charging speed. So, a jump of almost 10W more in 2026 could bring a sizeable difference when it comes to wireless charging speed time.

Moreover, since the entire Galaxy S25 lineup supported the Qi2 charging protocol, there is a high chance that the Galaxy S26 lineup will include the latest Qi 2.2 wireless charging standard. Especially the Galaxy S26 Ultra since it will allegedly support 25W wireless charging.

However, even with the wireless charging speed increase, the Galaxy S26 series will seemingly lag behind when we take the competition into account. Both the recently launched Vivo X300 series and the Oppo Find X9 lineup support 40W and 50W wireless charging speeds, respectively. Even devices like the OnePlus 15 and the iQOO 15 support faster wireless charging speeds.

Hence, a 20W and 25W boost is no doubt a welcome change alone, but not a massive jump in front of its Chinese counterparts. Also, since the Galaxy S26 series is gaining a wireless charging boost, we can expect the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 to feature upgrades in this department as well.

That said, since the Galaxy S26 launch is expected to happen in February 2026, we will know for sure in just a few months if these updates are indeed coming or not. There's a lot of chatter online regarding the upcoming phones. So, it will be interesting to see what the lineup has to offer this time around.
