Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in just a weeks time as its "thinnest and lightest foldable yet." It is also said to focus on durability with an armour aluminium mid-frame. However, looks like the same focus will not translate to the IP rating for the device.
According to PandaFlash on X, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will launch with an IP48 dust and water resistance rating, the same as last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable.
This development comes at a time when Google is expected to equip the upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold with an IP68 rating. This could make it the first book-style foldable to do so. And from the looks of it, Samsung will miss out on this title.

It’s a bit of a letdown, given that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 series had already stepped up from IPX8 to the sturdier IP48 rating.
As per leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is not missing out on a glass-ceramic back panel and an armour aluminium mid-frame. It is also expected to be sleek at 4.2mm thickness when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also expected to get a bigger 6.5-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset and will likely feature a triple rear camera setup with a 200 MP main sensor and a 10 MP selfie shooter with a 100° field of view..

Other than that, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 leaked renders revealed the Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow and Jet Black colourways.
With that said, we are waiting for Samsung to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on July 9, 2025, at 7:30 PM IST at the Galaxy Unpacked event. So, stay tuned for the official launch coverage from Beebom Gadgets.
