Samsung is the brand known to pioneer foldable phones, with the launch of the first Galaxy Fold back in 2019. But the company witnessed a stagnation while competitors like Oppo and Vivo started innovating both on the design and specs front. However, 2025 is the year the South Korean brand is ready to give its foldable a much-needed 'Ultra' upgrade. Enter the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra.
An official Samsung Newsroom post has teased that the next-generation Galaxy foldable will deliver an "Ultra experience." This seemingly confirms the existence of a Galaxy Fold with the 'Ultra' moniker. It will likely be called the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra.
Samsung further mentioned that users want a "smaller and more portable form factor" and not only an upgraded set of features or specifications. So, this "Ultra" take on foldables will not just feature a specs bump but will also seamlessly integrate AI to the mix.
To build anticipation and give fans something to talk about, the post included a short video teaser with a brief glimpse at the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra. It showed the foldable opening and closing to highlight the slim profile.

What to Expect from Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra?
How slim will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 actually be? We are not sure yet. Based on the teaser though, it is evident that the device will be significantly thinner than last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6.
If we go by leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra could arrive as the thinnest foldable phone in the world. It is expected come at just 8.9mm when closed and 3.9mm when unfolded. This will take the crown away from the Oppo Find N5, which currently leads the board with 4.21mm of unfolded thickness.
This will be interesting change as Samsung is not retreating from its sharp design language, which has become the identity of its foldables at this point.
Additionally, leaks suggest that the phone will include a 6.5-inch cover and an 8.2-inch inner display, respectively. The outer display will finally become wider, something fans have been asking for a really long time. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite will most likely power the device. However, it is also possible that Samsung will offer its in-house Exynos chipset (hope not) in some regions.
The 200 MP primary sensor used in last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition might be found on here as well. And finally, addressing the biggest question, the battery size. The battery capacity is said to remain the same at 4,400mAh with the Z Fold 7 Ultra, despite its slim profile.
Is Samsung finally adding a Silicon Carbon battery to its Galaxy lineup? Only time will tell. The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge misses out on this technology big time and offers only a measly 3,900mAh battery.
All in all, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra will be a major addition to Samsung's next-gen foldable lineup, which will also include the standard Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the affordable Z Flip7 FE.
The Galaxy Unpacked launch event for foldables is usually scheduled for July, so this year will likely be no exception. With Samsung teasing its upcoming phones already, we can expect to learn the launch date really soon.
