At its annual Developer Conference in China today, Vivo made its latest mobile OS iteration, Origin OS 6, official. The event unwrapped all the new features and upgrades coming to OriginOS, including new design language, iconography and AI features.
OriginOS 6 is now faster, smoother and a lot more "transparent"
Right off the bat, the latest Android 16-based OriginOS 6 update from Vivo looks clean and fresh. The heavy Liquid Glass inspiration is quite evident throughout the user interface, especially the lockscreen, where there is now a new transparent lockscreen clock with glass-like refractions.

These clocks support full-scale customisation with the ability to move and place them anywhere on the screen. The new clock style is said to mimic drop shadow effects, where the text blends seamlessly with the UI. Additionally, there is also the option to resize them and achieve depth effects.
Moving on, once we are through the lockscreen, OriginOS 6 greets users with a revamped homescreen. It now has the same new translucent UI textures and elements, including circular app icons and curved-edge widgets. Vivo claims that this new change makes the homescreen experience more "pleasant, uniform and seamless".

Under the hood, OriginOS 6 features also include a "Blue River Smooth Engine," integrating a super-core computing architecture, dual rendering and photonic storage. All of these elements together make transitions, screen switching and in-app interactions fluid and lag-free. The animations are also smoother now, with Vivo claiming an improvement in app opening speed by up to 11%, with a 57% responsiveness bump.
With OriginOS 6, Vivo has improved its Dynamic Island "inspiration", Atomic Island. It now brings an improved media player with better animations. There is support for more apps as well, like Maps, cab-hailing services, food delivery platforms and more.

Additionally, the update also introduces a new music lockscreen for media controls directly on the lock. There's also a revamped Control Centre with customisable tiles.
OriginOS 6 also brings widgets and notification stacking to Vivo and iQOO devices. Users can now stack multiple widgets over one another to improve space and make way for more apps and shortcuts.
Notification stacking, on the other hand, will ensure that the notification panel stays better grouped and clutter-free. In case of multiple notifications, OriginOS 6 will intelligently stack them in a visually pleasing manner.

Another area where OriginOS 6 has worked hard is in terms of cross-ecosystem connectivity. With the latest update, Vivo and iQOO devices will now be able to connect seamlessly with Apple products. OriginOS 6 will now let Vivo and iQOO smartphones connect and use the iPad's display as a secondary screen. It will even allow notes syncing and seamless photo sharing.
Lastly, OriginOS 6 has also brought some nifty AI upgrades to the table. The latest OS build has brought Object Eraser to Live Photos. Users will now gain the ability to remove objects, people, animals, vehicles and more from Live Photos. The OS also features an AI image editor to enhance resolution, remove objects and convert images to PDF.

Vivo will use active frame generation to remove and restore the edited motion frames. Other AI tools include AI voice prompts, an AI assistant, AI summary generation and Circle to Search 2.0.
That said, the OriginOS 6 will first land on the Vivo X200 series, the iQOO 13 and more in November 2025. Meanwhile, other OriginOS 6 supported devices like the Vivo X Fold 3, iQOO 12 and others will start receiving it from December 2025. The rollout will go on till early 2026.
Moreover, the upcoming Vivo X300 series will become the first phones to ship with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. The Vivo X300 launch date in China has been set for October 13, 2025.
BlueOS 3 for smartwatches has also been announced
In addition to all the OriginOS 6 features, Vivo has also introduced BlueOS 3 for its smartwatches. The new operating system for its smartwatches will debut on the Vivo Watch 5 and iQOO Watch 5 series via a public beta rollout from November 3, 2025.
BlueOS 3 brings up to 33 days of battery life promise on the Vivo Watch GT 2, new always-on display watch faces, smoother animations, personalised app recommendations and a new Blue Heart V calling functionality.
