Vivo seems to have mastered smartphone photography with Zeiss, but the brand is far from done. Ahead of its upcoming flagship smartphone launch, the Vivo X300 Ultra was showcased at MWC with its Teleconverter Kit. The brand has now confirmed the hardware for the main camera of the smartphone.

Vivo X300 Ultra will feature Sony LYT-901 Sensor

According to a Weibo post by Vivo's Product Manager Han Boxiao, the Vivo X300 Ultra will be the world's first smartphone to feature the 200 MP Sony LYT-901 sensor. The rest of the sensors include another 200 MP periscope lens and a 50 MP ultrawide snapper.

The main LYTIA 901 sensor is an absolute showstopper with a 1/1.12-inch sensor size and 35mm focal length. At 0.7 micrometre pixel size paired with an f/1.7 aperture, the sensor should be capable of letting in more light and capturing excellent photos even at night time.

The 35mm focal length should provide a more natural, slightly zoomed-in perspective compared to standard smartphone cameras. Besides, the camera is also expected to arrive with gimbal-like stabilisation and Zeiss's T* coating to reduce glare and boast great optical clarity.

The brand showcased the Vivo X300 Ultra at MWC 2026 with its Teleconverter lens accessory. It's a 400mm telephoto lens attachment that may effectively add 17x optical zoom capabilities to the main camera.

As for the other specifications, the smartphone is expected to arrive with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a whopping 7,000mAh battery. The performance could be paired with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Display-wise, it could boast a 6.82-inch 2K OLED panel.

While we don't have any official launch information yet, the smartphone is expected to arrive sometime in April 2026. Unlike its previous Ultra launches, the X300 Ultra is expected to see a wider global unveiling, arriving in more countries outside of China, which could include India as well. More information about the launch date should be unveiled as we reach the end of March 2026, so stay tuned.
