The much-anticipated Xiaomi 17 series is already shaping up to be an interesting launch this year. The brand has revealed some details of the smartphones, while the leaks and rumours have helped us put the pieces together. Now, a new revelation has given us an idea as to when we can expect the smartphones to officially go live.
Tech publication Gizmochina believes that Xiaomi will make the upcoming 17 series official in China on September 30, 2025. If true, the Xiaomi 17 series will become the first smartphones to feature the upcoming flagship-grade Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile processor from Qualcomm. The lineup will include the standard Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max with a secondary display
While not much is known about the standard Xiaomi 17, the Pro models have already been officially teased. The Xiaomi 17 Pro secondary display has already been showcased. Both the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max phones will house a new Magic Black Screen encased within the edge-to-edge camera deco.

Users will be able to use the same to perform several actions like display clock faces, use the secondary screen as a selfie viewfinder, see incoming calls and messages, navigation at a glance and more.
Xiaomi is also bringing Leica-branded cameras to the entire lineup. While details about the standard model are yet to be known, the recent Xiaomi 17 Pro Max camera details leak hinted at an almost similar 50 MP main + 50 MP telephoto + 50 MP ultrawide setup. However, the 17 Pro Max's telephoto could offer a wider aperture.

Apart from this, all the smartphones are said to offer 1.5K 120 Hz LTPO OLED displays. We could also see more than 7,000mAh batteries inside each device with up to 100W fast USB-C charging support.
That said, since the tentative launch event is for the month of September itself, we should know all the official details shortly. Additionally, Lu Weibing, President at Xiaomi, is going to hold a special Q&A Weibo livestream on September 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM CST (4:30 PM IST). So, we expect him to share some more details of the smartphone today.
