Apple shook things up last year with the iOS 26 Liquid Glass redesign, marking one of the biggest UI changes in years. Still, for all its visual flair, the update played it safe with customisation. A new report suggests that this might change with iOS 27, which could refine the experience with more practical, user-friendly home screen controls.
iOS 27 Could Add "Undo" and "Redo" for Home Screen Layouts
The latest Power On newsletter from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims that although Apple's internal build of iOS 27 does not show any major redesign planned, it might introduce new customisation options for the home screen layout. Apple could let iPhone users either delete existing home screen layouts or recall previous ones with just the tap of a button.

Additionally, with the upcoming iOS 27 update, new "undo" and "redo" options will be available to iPhone users when they long-press the home screen. Currently, the bubble in the top-left corner only allows users to Add Widgets, Customise, Edit Wallpaper, and Edit Pages.
With undo, users will be able to switch back to the previous home screen layout with a simple click. Similarly, redo will enable the ability to reverse previous changes with ease. The best part is that it will reportedly work with both icons and widgets. However, it is unclear how far the undo and redo history will go.
This is on par with what we have been hearing about iOS 27 being a minor refresh with focus on AI rather than a system-wide overhaul. A previous report hinted that iOS 27 will retain Liquid Glass theming but could add a much more granular Liquid Glass slider, which will go beyond the current Clear and Tinted options.
That said, while Apple has not yet officially confirmed any details, the brand typically unveils new iOS versions at its annual WWDC developer conference. With the Apple WWDC 2026 event scheduled for June 8, 2026, we shall see the all-new iOS 27 in all its glory shortly, especially with a Gemini-powered Siri.
