Apple's latest iOS 27 update was announced tonight at WWDC 2026 and Siri got the most superpowers. The new Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence, is now smarter than ever before, letting you "Write with AI" and even offering up-to-date information via broad world knowledge. Apple has also added a new Siri mode in the native iPhone Camera app, bringing its multimodal capabilities to execute a wide range of actions.

Siri Mode in Camera App Features

According to Apple, the new Siri mode allows users "to get information and take action on what’s in front of them" using Visual Intelligence. Users need to tap the shutter button to let Siri AI see what's in the viewfinder and receive useful responses.

This is similar to how Google Lens, powered by Google Gemini, reacts to visual searches. Using Apple Intelligence, Siri mode in the Camera app also brings the ability to split bills with friends using Apple Cash. Additionally, Siri mode in Camera can also provide users with "nutritional insights about a plate of food and more."

Further, Apple states that this Visual Intelligence is directly integrated into the screenshot experience on iPad. Meanwhile, on Mac, users can tap into it with a dedicated keyboard shortcut, which will let them select something on the display and prompt Siri directly from there to get an answer.

The Apple Vision Pro will not be left out either and will let users ask Siri questions about things by merely looking at them. Users can ask Siri about a wide range of related things, "from the content inside app windows to physical objects around them."

Apart from this, Apple iPhones have now received a dedicated Siri app, which provides a more conversational ChatGPT-like experience. It now lets users carry out multi-step tasks in a single query, upload files to analyse them, "Write with Siri" and more, all while doubling down as an AI-powered Search Engine as well.

The new Siri AI features are available for developer testing starting today via the Apple Developer Program at developer.apple.com across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and the rest.

Apple also states that Siri AI beta will be available "later this year" for "users with a supported device set to English". Additionally, Apple will quickly expand support for more languages.
