When it comes to wacky smartphone accessories, Chinese case-maker Rollme has been a known name. From fashion-first phone cases to smart glasses, the brand has been releasing cool products on a daily. Now, it has introduced a unique MagSafe case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max with a built-in display attached, redefining the meaning of phone cases.

Rollme VisionCare Opens Up New Horizon for the iPhone 17 Pro Max

The Rollme VisionCase MagSafe case aims to add a functional display accessory to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It comes embedded with a 1.85-inch HD (360 x 360 pixels) circular display, which remains attached to the back and can perform several actions.

One of the most unique aspects of the case is how it draws power. It comes with a physical power on/off button and connects to a proprietary magnetic puck for charging. It comes with a USB-C connector on one end, meaning that when connected to the iPhone's USB-C port, it can draw power and charge. This is made possible thanks to reverse wired charging.

In terms of functionality, there is a plethora of things the VisionCase display can do. It is primarily designed to keep users in the loop by showing notifications, caller ID, time, messages, pictures and more. Since it is a touch display, users can interact with it and even use it to reply to texts, receive calls, control music playback and more without needing to unlock the phone.

It also comes with a voice recording functionality, which can let users record audio on the go with a single tap. Users can even customise the display to show personalised texts, wallpapers, colours and animated characters. This is made possible thanks to the 400mAh battery inside and 128 MB of RAM.

Rollme also says the case is fitted with a custom AB5691G chipset, which can intelligently handle all the functions of the display. Moreover, a nifty addition to the display is its ability to turn into a selfie mirror, allowing users to make use of the power rear cameras of the iPhone 17 Pro Max for selfie photos and videos.

Lastly, it also comes with preloaded games, which users can use to play retro-style mini games. Aside from that, it can also act as an emergency flashlight, show digital cards and tickers and comes with an always-on display mode. It costs $49.99 (approximately Rs 5,000) and is available in Orange, Grey, Black and Coffee colour options.

The Rollme VisionCase MagSafe case reminds me of the Oppo Bubbles circular display, which launched alongside the Reno 16 series and Honor's Mini Display for the Honor 600 lineup. However, both of them are detachable, meaning users can independently use them, compared to the implementation Rollme is using. This could hint at a new direction case makers are going in, turning your smartphone into a connected hub for smart accessories.
