Samsung's in-house silicon could make a massive comeback. New benchmark leaks suggest the upcoming Exynos 2600 processor, expected to power the Galaxy S26 series, will boast performance similar to its rival, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, at least in terms of GPU.

Exynos 2600 GPU performance is looking good

Following numerous Exynos 2600 Geekbench leaks, the processor has appeared yet again on the platform, this time on Vulkan tests (OpenCL). It scored 27,478 points, sitting virtually neck-and-neck with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's score of 27,875.

While the raw numbers are impressive, the stability is even better. The Exynos 2600 chip's Xclipse 960 GPU shows great consistent performance with only a 3.4% variance in stress tests. This is something the current Snapdragon processors have struggled with.

Samsung processors, too, have boasted throttling issues, but this appears to be a complete 180 for the brand. The leap in performance and efficiency could be attributed to the processor's 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) process, which is touted to offer better efficiency.

This is directly due to Samsung's latest cooling tech. The brand has added a Heat Pass Block technology, which involves placing a copper heat sink directly in contact with the chip die. Samsung claims this improves thermal resistance by 16% and ensures the phone stays cool under heavy loads.

It's too bad that, due to yield issues, we may not see Exynos 2600 in more regions. For those unaware, previous reports pointed toward the Exynos 2600 being exclusive to Korean Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ smartphones. However, recent leaks suggest European markets could get the same, too.

The Galaxy S26 series launch date is pretty much set for February 25, 2026, where the brand will unveil the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. More information about their specifications and an official launch date announcement could happen anytime now.
