Following the China launch on October 14, 2025, Vivo has unveiled OriginOS 6 in India. With this, OriginOS finally replaces Funtouch OS on both iQOO and Vivo phones in India, and it arrives with a handful of new features.
OriginOS 6 takes cues from Apple's Liquid Glass design
Both Vivo and iQOO official pages in India now host a dedicated OriginOS 6 landing page, showcasing a slew of new features that are coming to Vivo and iQOO phones. At the same time, the official OriginOS X account has confirmed that the global launch of the update will be livestreamed tomorrow, i.e., on October 16, 2025, on its YouTube channel.

One of the main OriginOS 6 features includes a completely revamped design language, inspired by Apple's Liquid Glass design. It now features translucent UI elements, widgets with curved edges and a highly customisable lock screen. This includes new lock screen clocks that blend seamlessly with the wallpaper.

Under the hood, Vivo's new Blue River engine promises a leap in performance with claims of up to 11% improvement in app opening speeds and a 57% increase in system responsiveness.
Vivo has infused the update with AI smarts, with the standout features being Object Eraser for Live Photos, allowing users to remove unwanted moving objects from short videos. Besides, there's an AI expansion that can extend photos, an AI photo unblur and an AI photo editor. Another addition to this suite is smart search in Gallery, which lets users find photos and videos with ease.

Origin Island gets extended app support thanks to one of Android 16's features called Live Updates. This should make it easier for developers implementing Live Updates to ignore the feature saturation and develop a live update framework in Android's core so that every Origin Island-like feature can leverage it.

Coming to other UI improvements, there are stackable widgets and notifications to keep the interface clean and organised. Besides, OriginOS 6 also brings cross-device connectivity with the Apple ecosystem. For starters, you can move files between OriginOS 6 and macOS/Windows or mirror your phone's display with ease.

With the stable update in China slated for October 2025, starting with Vivo X Fold 5, OriginOS 6 stable may land in India in November 2025. The update could roll out to the rest of the OriginOS 6-supported devices by the end of 2025, including on the Vivo X200 series and the iQOO 13.
The OS is expected to arrive out of the box in the upcoming Vivo X300 and iQOO 15 devices that are expected to launch in India later in 2025.
