Apple's first foldable iPhone, widely tipped to launch as the iPhone Ultra Fold, has surfaced in a fresh leak revealing key details about its dimensions and design. As per the latest leak, it looks like Apple is aiming for an ultra-thin form factor.
iPhone Fold Could Feature an Ultra-Thin Design
According to South Korean tipster yeux1122 via Naver, the iPhone Fold Ultra will reportedly measure 9.23mm in thickness when folded, making it as slim as the Vivo X Fold 5. Moreover, this is good news since previous reports were placing the foldable iPhone's thickness at around 9.6mm.

Apart from this, we also know that Apple's first foldable will be about 4.5 to 4.8mm thin when unfolded. If that's the case, it will make it just a hair thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, it's not just the thickness that Apple is focusing on here, as the iPhone Fold is also said to arrive with a top-tier display.
Last month, a report strongly suggested that the iPhone Fold could feature a near creaseless display. Apple will reportedly achieve this by stacking two Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layers to minimise the crease. This is something that even the Oppo Find N6 did to achieve a nearly crease-free screen.
Moreover, thanks to leaked iPhone Fold CAD renders, we also know that the flagship will take on a wider foldable format. The foldable is said to feature a 7.8-inch "iPad-like display" and a 5.5-inch cover screen. This will make it lock horns with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

However, both Apple and Samsung are already late to the party as the Huawei Pura X Max launched as the world's first wide foldable earlier this week. So now it all comes down to who implements the wide, foldable format better.
Since Apple has had ample time to learn from its competitors and refine the foldable experience, hopes are certainly high. The iPhone Fold launch date was recently tipped to be set for 2026 itself, most likely alongside the iPhone 18 lineup.
However, since iPhone Fold cases and a bunch of other leaks have already surfaced online, it appears that the timeline is on track. Who knows, Apple might even use the WWDC 2026 stage to drop some solid iPhone Fold teasers. So, stay tuned.
