From conversational AI image editing to the new AI-powered Touch-Up tools in Google Photos, the Search giant has been leveraging Gemini to make Photos more functional for Android users. Now, a fresh report suggests that Google Photos could soon get AI-powered video remix capabilities.

Google Photos Could Soon Allow AI Video Remixes

The work-in-progress feature was first spotted by folks over at Android Authority, who managed to see a new Video Remix feature live on the Google Photos beta APK with the 7.80.0.929302933 build number. It sits atop the existing Photo Remix option inside the Google Photos "Create" menu.

The feature is said to function the same way as Photo remix works, where Google uses its Gemini foundational models to help users create stylised edits of their photos in 3D, anime, sketch, figurine, watercolour and more options.

The publication has also shared code strings of the Video Remix feature, revealing "cinematic relighting, immersive background swaps and beautiful stylisation" as the edit options for the feature. It is expected to process video files in the cloud and will work only with media backed up to the Google Photos cloud.

Also, just like Photo Remix, Google could limit Video Remix usage based on paid and non-paid Google One subscribers. It could come with a lower limit for free and regular Google One members and a higher limit for AI-specific tiers like AI Pro and AI Ultra plans.

That said, it is unclear when the new Video Remix feature will drop in Google Photos and if it will be limited to Pixel phones. Since this information is gathered via an APK breakdown, we are not sure if the feature will see the light of day. So, stay tuned for more details to surface in the coming days.
