Summary
- The Galaxy S26 Ultra's rumoured 60W charging speeds were put to the test, and they suggest a great decrease in total charging times.
- The speeds were tested in a controlled environment, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra reached 0-75% in just 30 minutes.
- Despite the increase in charging speeds, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to stick to the same old 5,000mAh battery capacity.
Samsung has held back in the battery and charging department for years. However, while the charging speeds on the S series have been stuck at 45W since the Galaxy 22 Ultra, Samsung is expected to bump it to 60W on the S26 Ultra. New reports suggest that with this upgraded speed, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could set a new record for charging speeds for Samsung phones.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Charging Speed could speed things up
According to renowned tipster Iceuniverse on X the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's rumoured 60W charging speeds could charge the smartphone from 0-75% in just 30 minutes. The results of this test were concluded by Samsung, and the test itself was performed under controlled conditions.

Leaks about Samsung potentially including 60W fast charging on the Galaxy S26 Ultra have been bubbling up for months at this point. Samsung launched a 60W power adapter, which is currently available to purchase in the Middle Eastern region, further confirming the S26 Ultra's charging speed bump.
However, the faster charging speeds can also be attributed to the unchanged battery capacity, which still sits at a measly 5,000mAh. While initial rumours did point to a slight increase in battery capacity, it looks like Samsung fans will have to wait until next year when Samsung finally decides to move away from Lithium Ion to Silicon Carbon technology.

The battery and charging upgrades aren't just limited to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, though. A handful of reports suggest that the standard Galaxy S26's battery could receive an upgrade to 4,300mAh while sticking to 25W charging speeds. The Galaxy S26+ is expected to keep its 4,900mAh battery and 45W charging.
Besides upgraded wired charging speeds, reports also point toward the Galaxy S26 series supporting Qi2 charging. The Galaxy S26 Ultra could get Qi 2.2 with 25W charging speeds, while the standard Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ could support Qi2 at 20W. Besides charging speeds, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The Galaxy S26 series launch date is all but confirmed at this point, with most rumours pointing to a February 25, 2026, launch. Reports also point toward a Galaxy S26 series price hike, and we should learn more about the concrete specifications of the series and an official launch date announcement as we inch closer to the rumoured launch date.
