Whether you're buying a used Samsung phone, checking the device after a drop or just want to ensure your screen is in perfect condition, Samsung includes a hidden diagnostic menu built right into One UI. This mode allows you to test for dead pixels, touch sensitivity issues and colour accuracy without downloading any third-party apps. Here's how to use the Samsung display check code to test the display of a Samsung phone.
How to use Display Check code on Samsung phones
It's the fastest way to test your screen. Upon using the code, a raw hardware test menu will pop up. It's similar to a code you use to check IMEI number on a Samsung phone. This is used by service technicians to inspect if all the components are working as they should. Here's how to use it:
- Open the Phone app and dial this code on the keypad: *#0*# to immediately bring up the menu.

- The screen should immediately change to a grid of white buttons. Tap on the Red, Green and Blue buttons to test for dead pixels on the screen.
- Once done, select Touch to trace your finger along the path to turn the squares green.

- Tap on Dimming to check the screen's contrast and brightness capabilities.
- And finally, tap on Black to check for Backlight bleeding. This is usually found on Samsung phones with LCDs.
You can exit the screen check by using the back gesture or button and return to the main menu. Pressing back once again will exit the menu entirely.
The other, less common way to test a Samsung phone's display is by using the Samsung Members app. It comes with its own Phone Diagnostics feature that can check if your display is functioning properly.

If there's an issue with the display, you might want to perform a Samsung Galaxy warranty check and get the device repaired. However, before you do that, we recommend rebooting your Samsung phone to see if that fixes the issue.
If that yields no results, turning on Safe mode and checking if the problem still exists is the next troubleshooting step. If it still exists, disable Safe mode on your Samsung phone before heading out to a good repair shop or an authorised service centre.
Performing these simple checks can save you from buying a defective device or help you claim a warranty repair before it expires. It's a powerful tool that takes seconds to use but gives you the peace of mind about your phone's most important component.
